My belief is if you have a local forum locals will get to know each other and potentially get more involved doing things together.... what's wrong with that? I mean you have ukta forum and #ukta chatroom. If it weren't for these things I seriously doubt you would have had any gatherings and meetups and the likes .... |
to be fair...ukta is pretty much dead though. :p
ppl here have raised some good points. but i say give it a shot and see what happens. there's tons of foreigners in the asian regions that could use it as a meetup point and then filter on through into the main site. |

I'm the only person who posts in there anymore. , a good percentage of the COR Whores are NWTAs. You guys suck. :( |

Voted yes. Definitely.
But on the other hand: if you want to know to what kind of music 1 billion Indians do listen to then have a look HERE and check the "Music" section for known names.
Do you find any known name? Not me (now, not exactly true, I found "The Prodigy"). The whole western music doesn't exist in India as it seems (no deejays, no Michael Jackson, no U2, no Eminem, nothing). And the site is quite popular (have a look at the statistics at the bottom of the front page).
Not that I think that an Indian TA subforum will have any chance but nevertheless I still think that it is a good idea to opoen one.... |

what the are you on about? You seriously have some sort of problem with anyone who disagrees with you, even if they give very good reasoning. |
My problem is you. All you do is sit whole day and post negative all over the place. You dont do so with any valid reasoning, you only do so because you think its cool to flame and be negetive. You are like a virus on this forum board with all your negetive posts and insults. Sometimes I think if some of us could collect 10 dollars and stuff and give it to someone who can get you banned from here, but than again I think you are not even worth that much of our effort, time and money. You dont demand respect from your posts or from your knowledge; you demand respect because you are 2001 registered and you think its cool that you have large postcount and people should respect that . Your every single posts reflects that. Are you made of bird droppings? Because even is food for Dung Beatles, but you seem worthless even for them. |

Nope. How many asians -who actually live in asia- are there even active on TA?! Seems a bit unnecassary, and like it's been stated before, local forums are more for local events, meetings.

i agree with you for the most part. but isn't that how the US boards started? just as a lump "US forum" and as more regions such as the midwest started to become more active, a new subforum was developed? |
The US forum is totally different imo, there are many many Americans on TA, so it makes sense to develop a new subforum. I'm not sure there are very few azns on TA, the moderators should provide some statistics first I think, but it seems as least like there aren't many azn TA's. In that case it wouldn't add much value to have a chinese/japanese/korean subforum. |

Ian posted very valid reasonings, he didn't bash anyone and he certainly didn't stoop to a direct personal attack like you did there. What have you ever contributed to this forum? All I ever see you do is stalk Ian, post meaningless oneliners and postwhore.
The mere fact that you have to back yourself up with such ridiculous insults really tells all about you. You are useless. People like you who cannot comprehend written text and let their personal hatred for someone cloud their entire judgement are what make this board so awful nowadays. |

Ask around these boards, people respect me for a reason, as a rule. There are those who dislike me, who don't like my forthright views or try to make fun of my appearance or dislike me because I showed them up in the past, but on the whole many of the people on tranceaddict get on with me. Those who don't are certainly a minority, so you have to wonder what makes them that way. You wanna bitch & cry because I point out the stupidy in many of your posts? There's only one way to fix that, post something worthwhile |

Voting no. Having a section for a whole continent isn't very "local" in my opinion, and it'd be a huge mix of cultures without going anywhere.
I can understand wanting to have your own forum, i remember when we wanted the portuguese forum, now i realise opening that forum was a mistake. Don't know if it would've been any better if there were separate forums for Portugal and Brazil, but the current mix of countries did not work even if it got us closer to the guys over there in South America (but that's mainly due to language anyway, Asia on a whole does not speak the same language!). |

I Voted no. My reasons are simple. I think that it would be better to find one or two countries with both a scene plus a userbase here already, and start at that. Asia has vast culture differences and I think lumping such a proportion of the population into just an 'Asian' section will allienate people on the forum as a whole. While not a bad idea in theory, I think it needs a lot more thought before anything is worthwhile.
This doesn't make me racist, anti-asian or anything, I'm just looking at it like this, take Europe. Many languages, races, cultures, thoughts, could you imagine us all being lumped in just 1 forum? Start sensibly & it will be a much better long-term prospect imho.

Although I agree with the culture differences, I don't think of it as alienating. Having an Asian forum created is, I think, a small step towards what you're envisioning. I think, though, it has to start small like this, with one big lump being created for all TAs from the region to gather first, and then further secede into more specific subforums.
I find it progressively constructive that there is first one forum that represents your continent, encouraging users to gather; where, then, once the gathering were done, users from different regions could further converge and request a section of their own; where, under that region, say Southeast Asia, for example, different countries could assemble into their own, specific sections, etc.
I think this is the way to go for Asia, as the continent as a whole, right now, lacks "representation" on the forum; they have no place to gather, and so, they don't post as being in a particular country, but rather contribute to individual threads in other forums and then back off to lurking, reading, etc.
Further, there would be much greater conflict, I think, if it were the other way around and, say, another Asian section were represented, but yours weren't. That would truly be alienating. Think Europe, for example.
I ask, again, isn't that enough votes already? |
