sneaker collectors are often associated with the "hiphop" scene, you tend to see alot of ghetto-ware themed apparel around sneaker colourways meaning people design and make clothes to match the colors of specific sneakers...hell some designs even include the sneaker in the design. Not necessarily saying that members of a sneaker club are "badass", just that you'll find that "community" appealing to more ghetto fabulous people...ie: ghetto people with money. It's a fashion statement now...people are purchasing vintage sneakers (Nike Dunks, Air Max Retro) and there is a huge market profit in that industry.

Nike is leading the way, they just released their "HOA - House of Air" retro of the famous Air Max line (am1, 90, 93, 95, 97, burst, etc) which sold like bananas at the chain stores (footlocker, finishline, etc). Already the HOA releases (Air MAx 90 Infrared) are nearly sold out in stores, it's pretty impressive how the sneakerfreaker generation is making its come back, and at the same time, retro stick up kids stealing peoples sneakers.

My guess is the market is mixed since true collectors keep and restore vintage sneakers and others are solely out for profit aka resellers. Those are people who you find shelling out money for sneakers, flipping it by reselling them for a decent profit. Money brings greed, greed leads to immature acts (ie: robbing highschool kids for sneakers they waited in line for for almost 3 days).

Honestly, what type of person would steal from a highschool kid? Grow up get a job and run your own hustle and buy your own sneakers...sad to say it but this generation has it's lines bled between money and fame.

This is new to you?

And on the sneaker thing, I was in a liquor store and these 2 guys (one that worked there the ohter was his friend) saw my Adidas 35th anniversary Berlin shoes and said, "Those are some hot kicks, what size are you?" "I'm an 11" "Aahh man I'm a 9 I was about to jump fo yo shoes!" :wtf:

the concept of stealing sneakers really tweaks me out... why the hell would anyone want to steal something that's been snugly wrapped around someone else's sweaty feet? it's like stealing underwear... you just don't do it.

people steal from high school kids all the time. theyre generally supported/rich and stupid.

they spend all their expendable income on status items.

i imagine real sneaker collectors are the kind that keep their in the closet most of the time. similar to people who get ferraris and refuse to drive them.

defeats the purpose, but then again i only buy shoes i can use, even if they are fashionable|
