in soviet russia...

ok i won't...LOL but in nyc uhh bums go through garbage and wear used underwear...LOL i ASSUMED THAT! not that I've practiced such myself...LOL.

I can understand why people would steal someone elses sneakers, i mean wearing a certain limited edition sneaker sorta makes you "known" by others who follow the scene. Same thing as if you were a DJ and your dropped the latest n greatest....just with sneakers there is usually a hi-resale value associated with them. I've seen sneakers go for upwards to $1,000 for a pair...and by that I'm not saying some brand new prada sneakers or a designer pair of kicks...

if the sneaker culture interest you at all and you have the least idea as to the monetary value associated with them...check out this consignment place in NYC, it'll give you an idea of what sneakers cost now-a-days..

i think wearing expensive sneakers makes you look *rich*...i doubt people jacking you for shoes subscribe to 'hot kicks monthly'.

there are some sneakers that don't look "rich" but are crazy expensive...some people wouldn't even think that they'd cost that much. availability and condition play a role in a sneaker's value...some more rare than others

that kinda sucks that you had to deal with that. good thing the wallet was not given up.

i've never been approached in that matter in chicago. however, my school bus was shot at a few times in middle school; and there were numerous drivebys/random gang shootings for years.

out here in iowa, if people see a squad car w/ its lights on they go nuts - like it's something HUGE. and for me it just blends in as background noise. hah.

In the city where I live there's a lot of small crime and stuff like that and a lot of big mouthed guys.

My solution to get away from them is to walk like a mofo.
Not to sound arrogant but I don't think I know anyone that walks as fast or faster then me ( ok maybe 2 or 3 people ) while just walking around town. I do this cause I hate wasting my time going places ( I walk a lot ) and if I go super fast some tools can't stop me and start bothering me.

I have never had anyone try to steal my shoes cause they just don't do that in Europe ( not the places I've lived at least ). But I did have a nightmare about that happening to me once and I woke up remembering exactly what model of shoes it was etc ( funny thing is that it was a pair of shoes I didn't even own :stongue: ).

Now speaking of getting other things nearly stolen ( aka weren't stolen but almost ) there has been:
cellphone ( that actually did happen ... someone took it out of my jacket in class ... never got it back :whip: )
clothes
wallet ( held at gunpoint with a fake gun :stongue: )
skateboard

Somehow I always got out of it. :toothless

And ps anyone step on my kicks I cross them out!

You know that place is a ripoff so you could have done a better job while given some recommendations.

And damn I'm so pissed I stopped going on solecollector. I missed out on the Dunk Hawaii. Perhaps I'll go and score them on ebay. I love the clear sole  :tongue3 :tongue3
