With the above nonsense aside...
on behalf of Dave Molina, myself, Jojo and everyone who did their part to make this event happen I appreciate everyone that was able to make it out to the show. Some of Dave and my set were recorded and as soon as I can get the footage uploaded I'll provide a link. |

My exceedingly Late Review
TIESTO: B+
Tiesto gets a lot of grief, but the three times I've seen him (Ruby Skye, Burning Man, & now) I've always had a great time. Compare that to Oakenfold or AvB, other "superstar" DJs who more often than not, have an off night.
I got to Cowboys right around 10 pm. Walked up & bought a ticket ($30) & caught the end of Matthias & Dave's tag team. Saw the fashion show, where my main amusement was wondering if the girls would fall off their 3 inch heels as they tottered up & down the stairs.
Matthias weird one song interlude is explained above. Tiesto's opener was good, not great.
Tiesto went on right at Midnight, & the crowd loved him.
Cowboy Dance Hall is Texas answer to SF's Ruby Skye, LA's Palace, or Miami's Space---a BIG Mega Club. Balconies up above, multiple drink bars down below. Nice touches: Water jugs, free of charge, so I could get water when I was thirsty. If only Sky would do that, instead of charging $3 for bottled water... The bathrooms were a bit yuck, but not terrible.
CDH had a good segmentation strategy for different crowds:
1) The people who came cause their friends brought them can hang out at the sides where there's seats
2) the Train Spotter non-dancers clustered right in front of the stage, in front of the runway
3) the dancing fools (like me) could dance behind the runways, & still get a decent view
4) the VIPs could chill upstairs
Contrast that to Barcelona, which has an unfortunate "living room at a house party" feel, as people surge across the dance floor looking for a drink or the bathroom.
Anyway, my expectations were very low, & I had a great time. Everyone was very friendly, no shoving, but dancing! I will remember that
a) Cowboy Dance Hall puts on a good time and
b) Tiesto is worth the drive
I saw Dave (hi!) & also ran into Ryan. See you all at G & D this Friday. |

Honestly, I would have left early if my stuff wasn't behind Tijs on stage.
Cowboys is a great venue, but the amount of money needed to rent it out is why you don't see much going on there.
Someone needs to bring Kai back to SA or Austin. He was the highlight of the night for me and my friends. |

Kai, first time hearing him -- the first few minutes into his set was ok... til later on he nailed it! Played some nice sick tunes in there!!
Tiesto... wut can i say... He Rocked The Place from start to finish! Too bad he played too short and left early.

Hey ya'll,
Just wanted to say I enjoyed you guys quite a bit. Dave my fav was your U2 mix. I'm a newb at the terminology and such around here, but you and Matthias had me jumpin most of the time. Matt I sincerely appreciate the invite, it was a wonderful experience.
Kai, loved your set as well. All in all, a very good time.
I recorded roughly 11 minutes of the show, brushed it up a little bit and will try and upload it to my website server today. I'm having a tough time compressing it smaller than 100MB. This week is very busy but I will post the link when available :) |

Everyone this is my friend Brittany. Probably the one person I have met that's done crazier in life than I have. (ie BASE jumping from towers, bridges, cliffs and buildings) I couldn't think of anyone more deserving of the +1, this was her first show, and she got to meet Tiesto backstage.
Not sure if she will be a regular around here as the BASE jumpers have their own forum ;) but she was the one who was with me at the event. A few might of met her. |

Congrats on being Tiesto's opener of choice. While I admit that I missed alot of the set from running around bugging tiesto backstage, etc; the parts I did catch I did enjoy. Definitely a solid tracklist as I recognize alot of producers in my bad as well. Best of luck to ya bro and thanks for dropping by the forum. :) |
