lisle is off the hook i agree. I've seen him play from 6 players

Sasha - He creates songs on the fly because he doesn't have the full song most of the time, but loops the artists send to him. He's basically recreating it every time, so I'd respect the dude that has to trigger each bridge, chorus, etc...

James Zabiela - Who else uses CDJs, EFX, and Live all at the same time? This mug is insane and never misses beatmatching, pitching, ANYTHING.

John Digweed - He mixes so well with CDJs and EQing, that for a while I couldn't tell when tracks changed.

Carl Cox - This guy plays 3 tracks at the same time without anyone ever noticing.

Richard Humptyvission - Rich has been noted for having insanely quick times between transitions, and I've heard his beatmatching is impeccable, especially for the short time hes given.

Ritchie Hawtin - Checked his latest mix comp out? I think you'd immediately put his name on this list if you have. Theres like 70 tracks in 80 minutes time. He layers that many on top of each other. That's great technical mixing imo.

Erick Morillo - He uses CDJs only and mixes in acappellas like they were pre-matched

I know I'm forgetting someone...

:p

No he doesnt, most of the time hes just playing full tracks, only looping/cutting certain parts.

He does crazy mashups every once in awhile when he feels like it (I.E. Beatfreak/Wavy Gravy)

On the other hand, just the ability to make flawless loops in about two seconds in ableton gives mixing a whole new dimension. Its something you can do on CDJs, but there is more room for error, ableton lets him concentrate more on how it sounds and where its going.

Some of the best DJ's I have seen mixing wise:

STEVE LAWLER. Hitting play on the CDJ with the fader all the way up = balls.

Danny Howells. Plays for 9 ing hours without one up.

James Zabiela. We know JZ is good at tricks and usually does quick mixes, but when I saw him with Sasha in February, he did some really nice long mixes between darker progressive tracks, ing brilliant.

John Digweed. Most of the time (95%) he is rock ing solid like no one else.

I've seen Paul van Dyk do this loads of times, but with vinyl instead. So much can go wrong.
Psychotron
best ive heard for progressive house is mili sefic. trance i dont really know.
djdk
Yoda

Dave Clarkes pretty in good too

The thing is, different genres requiring different mixing skills. I think what makes a good dj is the ability to make the 2 tunes being mixed fit together perfectly and making sure each mix doesnt just sound the same and trying to keep it interesting. There are many djs across all genres that are excellent at this. I saw ferry do it to perfection on friday. On just technical ability hes not as good as yoda or dc, but that doesnt neccesarily make him a crapper dj cos the mixing he was doing suited the music he was playing perfectly.

Jonathan Lisle no doubt!

I heard alot of people's on how Oakenfold got his name with the tracks he produced, quite ironically his tracks suck ass cept a few bangers like ready steady go but that got old real fast. Live, he's alittle different, he can (like sasha) bring a few elements in and out from previous or next on tracks at the right time. His mixing skillz are suberb and I know from first hand experience as well as hearing his live sets in Ireland. So I give the props to Oakey, but his track selections in the past few years are complete trash, thanks for listening....and good luck

haha u must be joking about oakenfold!!
u even heard any of his recent sets and the lack of skills in them?
