u even heard any of his recent sets and the lack of skills in them? |
Maybe we all "hear" differently...yeh, i think so cuz I been listening to sets since I was 14 (22 y/o now) so do the math and see the results, he was more than sasha for his time but fame gets to everyone eventually, slim shady is dead. |

I've seen Paul van Dyk do this loads of times, but with vinyl instead. So much can go wrong. |
Yeah...its in balls to the wall. The mix is literally at their fingertip. |

| Oakenfold has always been a below par mixer, listen to the live essential mixes from his 99 world tour (from creamfields and gatecrasher i believe) and you can hear that his mixings all over the ing shop. Also the mixing on his Global Underground New York cd leaves alot to be desired. I enjoy these sets cos the music is top notch, but you cant honestly say that the mixining is any good at all really. |

Exactly right. It's pretty pathetic to have bad mixing on a cd when you can rerecord and EDIT it.
Miro - Paradise into Three Drives - Greece 2000 is just atrocious mixing/phrasing |

Yeah...last time I saw him by himself in January, he went from chillout->downtempo->deep house->house->progressive house->tech house->electro/acid/tech house->techno->prog trance |

Creamfields? fuk that cd, I have the live version from radio one. What did you think of his Flaming June - BT ---->to Taste Experience - Summersault? One of the best mixes I ever heard and the fact he chose that song to go after flaming june is what mixing is all about. It's not all about beat matching, it's about choosing the right record after the right record. I heard plenty of sets by popular dj's during an experience and was really pissed off by the fact they played the wrong record after another. It's something you gain with experience and thank God not too many people know about it cuz it makes em all sound like |

It's NOT creamfields. Global Underground New York. Flaming June and Summersault don't go together imo but I guess since Oakie did it it makes it okay (Sarcasm) |

The best technical deejay bar none is still Danny Tenaglia. No one can mix like he can and no one adds the extras that he does. I'm still waiting for someone to top Naglia for technical skills and pure mixing ability.
John Digweed's mixing ability is amazing and the man is always so entrenched in what he is doing (hence why he rarely smiles)
Steve Lawler puts so much effort into his sets and his re-edits and everything, he is up there.
Sander Kleinenberg, the man used to be hammered by the boards because he tended to trainwreck but he don't do that anymore.
Adam Beyer always should be mentioned (DJ Sets, Live in Stockholm 2CD), can you match CD 1's shifts from track to track
still Tenaglia wins :) |
