Its funny, because people don't seem to mind paying 20 bucks to get into the zone on a weekly basis, and something tells me this club may have a slightly nicer set up than the good ole hotel waverly basement.
I love the zone and don't mind paying the cash, so I highly doubt I'll mind paying for this place. |

For someone who sounds like he knows what he's talking about, you sure don't. Sonic will have to do A LOT of things right to be more than just a memory 4 years from now, considering the hold those other 2 serious after hours clubs have on this scene; and the number of choices clubbers are given week to week. |
lol thanks tips, i kinda thought doing a lot of things right goes in general for any club hopeing to survive....how many clubs has toronto had opened by someone of a similar background? donno how people can fail the club before its even opened, especially when hes proven himself once, hes got the knowledge..finances.. and the market for another quality afterhours club is, definately, there...a good one just closed down didnt it? lol... |

hahahaha...this is too funny, the club hasn't even opened yet and some of you are already proposing it's failure. Yeah he's cocky and arrogant in the article...but how would you be in promoting your club?..."yeah, the sound should be good"...."i hope we're as good as the competition"...etc.
His name as a DJ/producer speaks for itself as well as Stereo being an icon in the past/present...who wouldn't be a little cocky? Personally this article reassures me of Sonic living up to the hype it's been getting. |
his name means money.. thats true.. who doesnt know who david morales is..? and what he has done for the scene..?

I dont think we have had a venue in this city that justified spending $30 on a nightly basis to be honest. Montreal however, does. It's called Stereo. Infact, a lot of Toronto kids spend that kind of cover with ease at a venue like that because it delivers a quality that is unparallel. I think Sonic will deliver the same kind of experience, and will be successful on this factor alone.
Besides, cover charge is only $20 on regular nights, and $30 for headliner nights which is totally reasonable imo. |
not only cover charge at the door.. but hours of driving/flyin' and even train.. hotel rooms.. and food.. only for a night @ stereo..
boa was always packed.. had the best/sexy crowd to party with (besides system)and i never thought of a cover charge to be a problem when ur going out.. ok its a litt|e expensive for some.. but there are loads of options on where to go and those who dont like it can stick to ur guvernment.. because i'm all hyped about this venue..

ok so the guy has confidence and cockiness but who gives a ?
the club will definately be something else and hes proud of it
yes there is competition but sonic will always bring the crowd in no matter what, many people hate guv and hate the "clubdisrict".
also some of the dj's sonic has booked in the past and in the present will probably never get booked at the guv.
there are many pluses so stop all your useless whining about what he said in the paper. |
:D well said..

this is the problem with toronto.. people dont know how to party.. they go clubbing just to see whats wrong with the club.. i dont even think they enjoy themselves.. because all i c the next morning are tons of reviews showing how much they hated this and that.. how unhappy they are with some people and the stuff that goes around.. this scene has alot going on.. so why keep bitchin about it?
we should be happy that david has chosen toronto to build such an interesting project.. this is perfect for the house scene here.. we have a bunch of residents who would tear the out of any big club anywhere in the world.. but wee need recognizion and i know sonic will help alot.. im sure it will drag many from diff cities.. just like stereo..
those of you who claim to be passionate about the music.. but diss projects such as this one.. should be ashamed..
we're in for a treat.. and you're gonna regret every single ty comment u made about sonic in a few months/years...
now.. carey.. bring my bitch to sonic..
lawler.. :D |

exactly and if people arent bitching about something or someone at a club, they are too busy trying to pretend like they are some sort of posing movie star. LOL
Toronto has always had great venues, but people here have never really known how to party. And thats a damn shame. |

I am certainly not impressed with the bull coming out of that place so far. I really don't think most people are going to want to buy tickets on line, with a service charge, erevey week. Too much hastle! |
I agree. This "advance ticket" BS is a way to create business for ticketbreak.com at the expense of Sonic patrons. $4.28 weekly service fee for tickets? Are you kidding me? I'm sorry, but I am not happy about having to pay Ticketbreak $4.28 a week, on top of paying cover. |

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really think that a gay sex shop, or charging us an extra $4.28 for no reason as the only two ways to buy tickets is going to make patrons of the club very happy. |
