I don't know about this. Again, to me this seems like someone that has a lot of money involved trying to use Sonic to grow one of his own ventures.

You don't see the problem because you blindly support this club. Just because you don't see the problem doesn't mean other people won't. There is a problem with paying an extra $4.28. Here's why:
Sonic is basically adding an intermediary to the distribution chain. Intermediaries are supposed to add value. How do they add value? By making the product cheaper or more convenient for customers to buy. Ticketbreak is obviously not making things cheaper. In fact, they're making things more expensive. They're also not making things more convenient for regular patrons. Why? When I used to go to the old Boa, all that was required for me to get a discount off the full price was a text message or an email to a promoter. Often times, the promoter would put me on the list without me even asking knowing that I would be going. Now, I have to make an account on the internet, and have to log on and purchase my tickets every single time I want to go to the club. And for this I have to pay an extra $4.28. |

I think HighRoller is right on the money here.
I think it's really funny that the "Guest List" price is listed in this thread as $30.00 (reduced).
The only thing that is reduced, is that you don't pay the on line commission.
Someone please tell me what is the difference to the club?
If I guestlist...and I am lucky enough to get one of the "limited" number of spots. I pay $30.00, directly to the club.
If not, I buy on line for $34.28, and I am still paying $30.00 of that to the club.
My question is: What is the difference how many people get $30.00 guest list, if the club gets the same amount of money either way?
My answer: Less of a pain in the ass for me and lot's of other club goers (some of whom may not have a credit card!) |

Actually I do, and my comment is in direct relation to the people i want to surround myself with in a club. In my past experience, which is quite a long time, there has been a direct relation to cost of cover, hours of operation and known/unknown talent that is brought in, to the type of patrons said club draws. So yes, I am about he music...and it'll be refreshing being in a place where everyone else is as well.

re. price - Montrealers and NYCers have been accustomed to paying higher admission prices throughout the city, not at any one special venue. it's just the cost of clubbing there.
Toronto has been spoiled with $10 parties at guv for 3 headliners and free guest list at system for years....getting a crowd that will regularly pay 40 bucks for a club they can't get into til 1am is going to be a tough sell. |

Business 101.
Also, remember that the club hasn't opened yet...so lets not burn them at the stake because of how admission is handled just yet. When Boa-Redux first opened they were a little shady with it too. I don't even think there was a g-list to begin with. Considering the hype surrounding Sonic; I would expect that guest-list becomes more accessible as the initial hype of the club wears off in a month or 2. |

Sorry, I'm not going to let them do whatever they want just because they're Sonic and they're supposed to be the best thing that happend to Toronto club land in a long time. Everyone knows that there aren't many people that are more excited than me about the club being open, but there is no excuse for bull like this. |
