went to a couple of small bars along st-laurent last night, and they were surprisingly packed for a wednesday night. People kept coming in the door and leaving when they saw how full it was. Never been to those places before though so I don't know how it usually is.

I was in Vancouver when they passed the same law there in 2000. For the first few weeks a bunch of people were still smoking in bars and the owners didn't really seem to give a . Fast forward a month and a $10000 fine later, and believe me if you lit up a cig you were booted from the place faster than if you started vomiting in the middle of the dancefloor. I imagine it will be pretty similar here. It's funny though in Vancouver, because at a lot of clubs you can light up a joint and they won't give a , but if it's a cig you're outta there hella fast =P

I'm curious to see how this will be handled at the afterhours though.

Obviously as a non-smoker I'm super happy about this law. It'll be nice to go to the club and not smell like an ashtray at the end of the night.

well Guv has an outdoor patio and System when it was around made a spot outside so you could go outside. The clubs have to be willing to accommodate the new law. It has been done and it will be done, even in afterhours clubs. I don't see the big deal everyone is making about it. Oh well you can't smoke inside anymore.. it won't kill you :p

I still think this is one of the best (and only?) thing that Charest has done. I don't have anything against smokers, just smoke and cigarettes.:whip:
