Bayern Munich midfielder Martin Demichelis claims he has lost the will to live after missing out on a place in Argentina's World Cup squad. "It's not only that I don't have any desire to play anymore - I don't have any desire to live," Demichelis told an Argentine television network.

Demichelis, 25, was unexpectedly dropped by Argentina coach Jose Pekerman when he named his 23-man squad on Monday.

Demichelis moved to Bayern in 2003 from River Plate and has become a key player for the dominant force in German football, protecting the defence and helping the team win two Bundesligachampionships and two German cups in the last two years.

Javier Mascherano has instead been picked for Argentina, who also sensationally dropped former captain Javier Zanetti in favour of Lionel Scaloni of West Ham.

Argentina are grouped with the Netherlands, Ivory Coast and Serbia & Montenegro in the World Cup finals in Germany which begin on June 9.

well ive always been a fan of Martin and I hope he is just saying this in tounge and cheek. But really Javier Zanetti & Demichelis > Scaloni & Burdisso....how the hell Burdisso over Demichellis

Me too.. Lucho Gonzalez has convinced me, hope he makes a good world cup but not too good so that Chelski and the likes won't try to hire him right now!

It's kinda strange tho.. there's Argentina, but I've always liked Holland as my national team #2. Kinda sympathise with Ivory Coast. Obviously want Portugal to beat everyone! Enjoyed Mexico on the Confederations Cup, and picked them as the possible biggest surprise for this tournament.

Considering only 2 at most of these 5 teams can reach the quarter-finals, I don't really know how the am I going to support all of them.
