Considering the zone US needs to face to qualify, those other national teams are the likes of Guatemala, Panama, Jamaica, Honduras, El Salvador, Canada, St. Kitts & Nevin. There were even free spots for Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago (altho, i have to concede, they did have to beat the uber-dangerous squad of Bahrain).

i'm sure we're going further than you this time :p and i cheer for my national team, but reserve the right to criticise them when they don't deserve the hype
right now i feel we do deserve the hype :thepirate this squad isn't as weak psychologically as it used to be, the only thing that worries me is having to face argentina, holland, or a country that beat them in the 1/8 finals. i'm not sure we're going to pass that massive test, but we should be able to beat our group. |

US football is ed up and no they arent doing this year. Eddie your a moron cuz last WC the teams they faced got complacent and thought the US was very poor this year its different teams recognize they have some good players and are gonna play them tough. They will only beat Ghana

Exactly. Our team went into the field thinking it was already won, i'm sure Scolari won't ever allow that to happen while Oliveira was probably the biggest assclown ever to manage our side. Sticked with Ricardo the whole qualifying when he was on amazing form to pick a dodgy form Baía for the world cup. Played a blatantly injured Figo every game just because he was Figo. Didn't have any discipline on players, and it's a fact he prepared the team horribly together with the federation.
I'm not saying the US didn't have merit, but the circumstances helped.
Not saying either the US will suck for sure this year. Not betting on them but wouldn't be too surprised if they manage to qualify for the next round. I don't think the czechs will be as strong as in the euro, the italians have a tendence to underperform in the group stages, and Ghana are world cup n00bs. |
