But in general I just don't feel they have the same vibe as back then. It's just a feeling I get. I think part of it isn't that the decorations and 'undergroundness' are there like they used to be at parties but rather back then I felt like I was part of something still new and exciting that was pushing the limits and breaking new ground. The energy coming from everyone back then fed off each other because we all felt the same way about what we were involved with.

I can't really explain it much better than that right now.

Preach It Brother!

Liquid A's, BIg BUds And HUlla's, and last but not least the Infamous Better Living Center Parties! Connected Anyone?????

I started in 99 and still going on. It all depends on the person and if they will grow out of it or not. I'll be honest with you, if "E" today was like it was back in 99, I'll still do it every weekend. B/C it was really clean and no sketchyness at all.

I haven't done any drugs for almost 6 yrs now.

I agree and I would also still be dropping every weekend, but all you get now is garbage, which is why I haven't taken any in the last 3 maybe 4 years also, and honestly couldn't be happier about it.

Naw it was the "E" for sure ... I did some after my supplier retired.(I had the top of the line hook ups back then, this dude supplied every azn dude in TO)Then I realized how ty it was and this was the normal the general public was using and I just gave up with it.

The next momment that changed my life in the scene ... was BAD BOY BILL @ Industry. First time I ever partied sober and had just as much fun as my first time dosing.

I can go on and on about my raving career and all the good and the bad I've gone through. Like I said in my earlier post ... Cherish what you have and what era you came into, b/c things change and it will never be the same.

Hahaha, my first sober party was Armand Van Helden at the Guv over thanksgiving, but honestly it just wasn't the same as before.

1999 was the best year of my life :) Things were different then. I remember going to see Tiesto on a Thursday night for $10

So many of the places that we used to go to are gone now. X-it, Turbo, and Industry were all good spots. Like John said, enjoy what you have now as things will never be the same.

My friend was the guy who brought Tiesto on a thursday at the Guv.

X-it nite club ... I was there with Mr. Furious for the grand opening with John Kelly.

The scene does change ... every 4 months.

I do feel I missed out. I guess it was euro that started me on the whole EDM scene, and back then, there just wasn't that much around. I caught the tail end of it, and went to two events in 1999 and 2000. Didn't go again 'till about two years ago. Scene has changed a lot. But I find that I missed the best of it. Crowds were better, pills were MUCH better. Ah if only I could turn back the clock a few years...

I too missed out on Twilo days of NYC but as far as underground raves are concerned, I probably don't miss them too much.

Back home in India, there is a huge rave scene and they are mainly all underground. We have raves in farm houses secluded from the city, jungles, beaches etc..Its essentially a psychadelic trance scene but its very underground and I go back home a lot and hit one of those up atleast a couple of times....

They have their own charm...:)

I remember in high school folks heading to downtown Detroit for warehouse raves all the time back in 1996-1998. I never went being far too shy to consider being around that many people.

But they are coming back in Detroit and in Ontario. You just have to know who to know and find them. There are several warehouse parties Memorial Day weekend downtown and the number of afterhours parties is definitely double what it was last year.

By far, I find the dark, dirty warehouse vibe to surpass the Miami club vibe because it's usually like going down the rabbit hole - you and some friends on an adventure from finding the place to getting in to hearing tunes, etc. We had 10 of us in a GM Jimmy one year for a warehouse party - fackin' ridick times.

Do I feel I missed out? Yes. Do I think nothing lasts forever? Other than granitic basalt, nothing lasts forever - even now in Detroit an era is ending. Enjoy the times while you can - nothing golden stays and you'll always be chasing the next one.

Best Parties hands down were between 1992 and 1996. After 1996 the city had banned warehouse parties so they were commercialized and moved into places like the international centre and better living centre. Then in 2000 the city banned that too and now we have our present state of affairs.

I remember the meat packing place on gunns rd. Best parties. "E network". Also the Science Centre parties and the Dee Lite party up at the Honey Pot.
