| i've only been to spundae twice. i suppose the crowd is more friendly than at avalon. it's a bit of a mixed bag: washers, hollywood types, but also some really enthusiastic edm fans and nice, friendly people as well. avalon's not perfect, but they bring in great talent. spundae never books anyone i want to see. |

I believe she meant guys rubbing their penises on her :p
Weird, I've never had any problems with the crowd. I've bumped into people and we both say sorry or excuse me. Maybe they just know you guys hate them :haha: . Same with the entry, i've never had a problem. , i'm not even on the list half the time and I still get in discounted lol. Oh well, the reasons listed are obviously problems. I was just curious as to why so many people hated "the crowd" at Avalon. Guess that answers it :p
My only problem with Avalon is the ed up Asian people bumping into me, they could at least scoot over or something. D'ah well. Differen't strokes for different folks. |

a lot of times there are problems and people just don't care enough to report them. like when clovis and i got punked by some sweaty shirtless 280-pound black dude standing in the aisle on the balcony. he wouldn't let anyone walk across and he was so amped on meth/coke/whatever, it looked like he was ready to throw us over the edge if we disagreed. |

| WAShinG machines those people are 70 years old and losing their minds i dont know how they do it but its disgusting they kicked me out for some weed while those dirtbags are on who knows what and no one says anything to them. avalon should put a max age for whose comming in |

Meeting Ron Artest at Avalon on Saturday night was pretty cool...
Also there seemed to be quite a few undercover security/cops on the dance floor. i bumped into a guys walkie talkie under his shirt even. i hadn't noticed stuff like that in past avalon events. |

I dont understand why guys like this do not get kicked out. This, and the asians that can be as ed as they want, are my beefs with avalon. Aside from that, I have met some funny people at avalon on several occasions, but usually Danny Howells/Lawler/etc nights have a better crowd than the more popular nights and even Fundacion events. |

1.) Washing Machine Dancers
2.) Penis Dancers
3.) The FOB dancers (the horny middle eastern dudes)
4.) Transvestites
5.) Crackheads
6.) Drama with guestlists (why doesnt Spundae ever have problems with that?)
7.) The lines. (why doesnt Spundae ever have problems with that?)
8.) That stupid VIP section that makes the rest of the crowd feel inferior.
9.) The crowd is too "Hollywood", which makes you feel like the people are just there to hook up, rather than enjoy the music.
10.) Atleast 50% of the crowd doesn't even understand the music or know what DJ is playing
|
I've been saying this for the past several years. There are a myriad of factors behind this, but ultimately there is the blaring specter of Hollywood that looms over everything. The size of the crowd really has nothing do with it. I've been to parties throughout Europe, Asia, and in other parts of this country which were just as packed but were still so much fun. No it’s not the size of the crowd nor the number...its the TYPE of crowd.
Spundae is better but only by a little. yes it is Tinsel Town, but you know what means. Even the best clubs or parties will be tainted with that idiotic superficial glam that hangs over this place. |

there is one in solution to the complaints......IF YOU HAVE COMPLAINTS ABOUT AVALON, THEN DONT IN GO....
thats like complaining that your peanut butter and jelly sandwich always has the peanut butter on top.....
are you kiding me...? Avalon... problems....?????? nahhhhhhhhh
lets address the issue of the line.....just like any other club or any other social gathering where status and position play major roles, money talks bull ...well pretty much stands in line....
if you take the effort and tip your doorman and bouncer a 20$ or even a 50$ beleive me, that tip will work wonders for you...And bouncer usually have excellent memory...(only when they need 2)....you take care of them they take care of you.....
I have never once waited in line @ Avalon for more than 15 minutes.....Honestly now that i remember it some of the most packed nights i have just winked or noded (once i have their attention) and im right in.....i have walked in with my entourage of 5-10 even 15 people @ times no problemmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....i have TA's that are reading this thread that will vouch for me.....think about it
WHO GIVES A ABOUT THE WASHING MACHINES.....i understand yah they can be annoying and ridiculusly rude, but GET OVER IT....thats the sacrifice you need 2 make to see the Best Djs in the world on this side of the continent...i mean were talking Avalon here, were regulars and we trip over it......the sameway we recognize Crobar, Cream,Ice, Amnesia is the same way Avalon gets recognized worldwide....think about all the sick talent we witness weekend after weekend, and you guys still have the nerve to complain about a packed house, and a bathroom attendant that pats you on the shoulder and expects a couple bux 2 make a living......
wow dude..............grow up.....thats all i havta say
oh and PS: the only way you overlook those ed up people is by being just as ed up (THOUGHT).....im not a woman and i dont appreciate penis dances either. But those in morons are harmless.... |

In general, I like Avalon. My only problem are the washers. I think alot of people are afraid to say anything specific because they might sound racist so they just say the "vibe". Old, sweaty, ed up, rude ass Asians pushing everyone around just bugs. I'm Italian and I would say the same thing if it was a bunch of old, sweaty, ed up, rude ass dago's out there. If they would just stay upstairs on on the sides it would be fine but for some reason they always want to be upfront center.
I have had no problems getting in lately since they ditched groove tickets. No idea if wanttickets is the reason. |

| granted I have never been down to Avalon but from what you say most clubs in San Francisco are the same way....I would even asume MOST clubs in CA are this way, but what do I know:conf: |

oh look, a cheerleader... how lame
yeah, no need to criticize a club like avalon because there's OBVIOUSLY no room for improvement at this venue. jesus... hey i pay good ing money to go see these djs, avalon isn't doing ME any favors here. i pay the same money at other clubs and don't seem to have absolutely pointless 2-hour waits at the door for no good reason at all. i suppose we should all just feed into this 'money talks' bull of yours and pay twice the door fee just to get into a club on time to see the dj we came for. that's funny you should lump avalon in with some of the world's top clubs. where are avalon's accolades for best promotor? best party? best club? top 100 rank? just cause this place makes enough money to bring in great talent all the time doesn't mean we should all get on with a big grin on our face. i'm not saying that's what's happening here, but you sound like the type of guy who would jump around with your pom-poms and miniskirt even if avalon did on everyone. |
