i dont buy this.
its a perfect excuse for harper to push a more conservative agenda
fear, ladies and gentlemen. it grows exponentially, and with it a gov't can do whatever it want - i.e. bush regime in US. guantanamo, no warrant wire tapping, arrest without charge.. etc. |
+1
This government is like a in disease and it is spreading fast and they are getting into peoples head. They must be removed asap.I would hate to live in a country that is as edup as the United States.
We shouldnt be in Afghanistan,Canada is known for it is peacekeeping missions not fighting combats like how they are in Afghanistan today.
I have a feeling we will be involved in more U.S ups in the near future simply because this cowboy wants to close to the Americans so bad.Canada will never be the same unfortunatly.:( |

Common sense would say - because seemingly "normal" people had enough explosive material to detonate a large building in Toronto and intended on using it. |

fayraree & hardcore trancer:
You both have a lot to say on this issue - which is good, I am interested in your opinion and perspective.
What I find inconsistent however is that neither of you have fully, and harshly condemned the atrocious activities of the suspected Ontario terrorists (without some sort of "but... The West (Canada) is overstepping it's bounds... etc." type of disclaimer or some other rationalization).
I applaud Malek, since he makes his position on this specific issue very clear (whereas your position is somewhat clouded with "exceptions"/"disclaimers"). |

Iam aginst terrorism but lets think about why we would be in this situaiton in the first place.Canada is known world wide for its multiculturlism and after today I have a feeling this country is about to get divded and people wont be looking at eachother the same way and it will get worse. This is why I was afraid of when Harper took over, that he will following the American routes and will flush the canadian values and what we always stood for down the toilet.
I would hate to see this country becoming another paranoid nation like America.
Americans are ed in everyway and they know it and they cant do about it,but WE CAN and this government has to go before it is to late.
Us being in Afghanistan will not make us safer either and if some of you think thats the case then you need to look at the bigger picture here. |

What transpired today in Ontario proves just the opposite.
Events like today clearly show the type of influence that rogue governments and foreign terrorist organizations have on our domestic safety.
If anything - domestic terrorist cells (ones based on the ideals and beliefs of rogue governments and foreign terrorists) boost support for foreign action on the "war on terror" and show just how necessary it is for Canada and other countries to fight to defend our interests and our safety abroad.
The "big picture" is such that we are not safe until the people who lead, train and enable terrorists are caught, prosecuted and locked-up (and if a big part of that mission is instilling democracy in foreign lands [so that the people can do that job themselves], then so be it). |
