If u care, take a look at http://www.themodernword.com/mulholland_drive.html and see to what extent the reviewer has gone to understand the movie
A movie should be entertaining, maybe thought provoking..but wtf such a deep puzzle that u start thinking the director's gone nuts ?? |
David Lynch specifically makes movies such as Mulholland Drive to keep you entertained after the movie is over. He doesn't want you to just sit there for two hours, watch some linear storyline, and be done with it, possibly to never draw out anything about it in the future. Even moreso the case with the movie Lost Highway he directed which literally has no ending. It ends with a car chase, nothing more. The fact that you like movies that begin and end, and follow a relative formula does not mean that movies that break such barriers have no meaning or place. Just like Jackson Pollock and his famous drunken vomit displays are juxtapose to Picasso.

I really like this movie. The directors cut I think needs to be seen after watching the original.
Anyway, those of you who say it sucks, can you please explain to me what exactly sucked about it (specifically), and enlighten me on the storyline?
I have a sneaking suspicion that those of you who find this movie "sucky", didn't actually get it. |
