Ok for those who didn't see it and/or plan to see it, SPOILER ALERT!!!! SP0ILER ALERT!!!
here's why it sucked:
1. The whole f-n movie is made on a concept of "what if" - e.g. what if x didn't happen or "a" did happen.
2. The friggin giant killer rabbit that kinda supposed to forewarn of the "end of the world", where in reality only the main character's "end" was comming.
3. Stupid flicking back and forth so you have no idea at which point in the plot you are in.
4. When the big "gotcha" is finally revealed you're goin like "So, what the ? who gives a ?" why???? because the director does not develop a character played by Jake Gaylehaal ( :p )
so, he's liek this smart emo -off and I'm supposed to care for him having a plane engine crash through the roof into his room?
Really ing original concept. NOT!!! jee whiz... oh, where did I see that concept before, the one about "hey, what if..."
oh, let's see:
Ugh... movie for emo's. Sorry, but the movie was
"TEEH TEEEH DUUUUHHH" (c) Carlos Mencia
Now, this is a great movie:

thats the wrong answer, but thankyou for playing! the whole f-n movie is based around parallel universes & time travel.

wrong again. parallel universes (in this context) are finite, and cannot exist forever. thus, if donnie had not died at the end the parallel universe he wasnt meant to be a part of would have ceased to exist; thus the end of the world.

eh? the movie is in perfect chronological order except for the end.

matter of perspective. i thought donnie's character was cool & very funny.

I am still not quite sure of why you or anyone else did not like the movie. I guess some people dislike the exploration of options or multiple/alternative paths reality can take, as it seems to be a prevalent theme among several of the "this movie was a piece of " movies being mentioned in this thread. Give whatever excuses you want, but it seems to me like people do not like particular films because they do not understand them as well as others (others who enjoyed them). I mean, it's definitely not like Donnie Darko was a poorly-put-together movie, nor was Mulholland Drive or Memento - all of these films are the creations of writers, directors, and actors who worked very hard and painstakingly to bring a somewhat original story to cinematic light. Not that I'm here to change your mind or anything, just realize that people hate what they do not understand.

SO, i TEH l0s3? :(
Look, it's been a while since I seen it.
NOw, I'm all for an original idea and bit of excitement. I can't say the movie sucked alltogether completely and there were few funny bits, esp. the scene where Jake's character gives a speech at the shcool and all the other crap. But the thing is the entire movie is (forgive analogy) like a one sloppy, wet, sexy blowjob that ends with "o gee, look at the time, gotta go".
Sorry, Im all for the concept of parralel universe and other crap, but like majority great movies it just ends abruptly.
this one is definately a contender. How about "Big Lebowski" - what THE was that? just stopped in the middle. Funny movie, but same fate - ending completely chopped to .
so, don't get all riled up over someone's critique. We allready have Arbiter for that.
pkcRAISTLIN
hahaha. i aint riled up. you were simply wrong on a few points and i took it upon myself to help educate those less fortunate than my good self :p

i really liked it. i used to like it even more before, when the whole aspect of not knowing was stronger. though the directors cut was a disappointment, i still prefer the theatrical version. the dues ex machina theme was pretty poor, with the eye and the numbers and lines and whatnot. good movie nevertheless. the music is extraordinary! like from an 80's sci-fi/thriller. thumbs up for michael andrews
