| yeah its pretty much over lol.. i mean 3-0 thats so bad for openers and the last team to win the next two matches after being beaten in the first round was turkey in the last world cup.. usa has to beat italy or at least tie them then go on to beat ghana if they want to stand a chance ... cross your fingers :stongue: |

yep , really the best chance USA had was vs Czech rep. and omg they blew it, Italy looked so good today vs Ghana, Luca Toni is gonna play around with the USA defence, i think its pretty much over... |

who's watching the france - swizzcheese game?!!?
very exciting game, still 0-0 at the half.. MESSY shots by both teams but fancy footwork and a load of action. let's hope it gets even crazier in the 2nd. :toothless |

Best chance was agains the czechs? What about ghana?

Whaaa?
I think you guys aren't giving the Czechs enough credit. Sure, they've got some old guys on the team but they have a very talented bunch and were definitely the favorites coming into the match. Their defence is decent but they really shine in the midfield with Nedved and Rosicky. Then they've got Koller up front who's just an unstoppable beast in the air (as the US learned early in the game).
The US looked awful throughout the match. They still play "MLS style soccer" - too much crowding around the ball with little movement off it. They'll have to work on their movement and placement before they can ever be considered a serious contender for the cup. |

yeah Vern knows what I mean, by the time we play Ghana we woudve at least had to have 1 point and hope for a win against Ghana to advance.
still excited how this group will play out, with Kollers injury(might miss more than one game)they might be in a little bit of trouble.Ghana impressed me vs Italy. |

It's taken me a few days to recover from the Czech arse whipping. U.S. embarrassed me. Sheesh, I wasn't expecting that! We need a few Barry Sanders, Reggie Bush's to grow up loving soccer. Power and speed up the kazoo. Then we could have had Ben Wallace checking Koller. lol
We also need Kevin Mench from the Texas Rangers and his 9 3/4 head to be getting the headers. Or Barroid for that matter. Their heads are enormous.
I kid but still are best athletes are gobbled up by too many other sports. Maybe that'll change to a small degree 20 years from now. I don't know.
I can handle this thread much better. The sports discussion threads seem way anti-U.S. for my tastes. It's like taking your political views and attributing them to soccer.
U.S. left/right backs are terrible. |

...anyway.
wow, what a match between Germany and Poland!!!! Poland has NEVER EVER beat Germany in 85 years of playing them... and they lost today too..! in the 91st minute Neuville scores despite 45 minutes of german domination over the ball bc of Poland's loss of a player (red card).. poland did a great job tho.. first half was verrry exciting, even possession for much of the 1st half. great job Boruc.. great goalkeeper this game.. |

no. usa has great soccer players. just horrible strategies. what we need is start to play the way other nations play. not sure whoever said it in this thread but it's true that US crowds around the ball like a bunch of pigeons around ing breadcrumbs. they leave way too much to be desired of them and that's only 1 of their faulty strategies. |
