| japan was very close to going up 2-1 on a shot that was rifled just wide. i thought australia played a very boring match up until the final 15 minutes, but congratulations to them for an unbelievable finish. |

We'll see..
Croatia vs. Australia is going to be the keygame for Guus Hiddinks men. Don't forget that it's a small derby ;) |
I don't see how there tactics of hoofing the ball long to three big strikers can beat better sides, that guy with the long hair they put on looked anything but a football player, kennedy I think it was, he was piss-poor, much like the rest of their team. |

Best game so far but tbh, no-one wants to see australia's brand of bruising football in this tournament, thankufully they've been drawn with two very good sides in croatia and brazil and will be knocked out in the groups. |
come strong or don't come at all!
it was japan's game but they didn't execute in the end. so...
GO AUSSIES! |

He was definetly a injection, even though he wasn't as good as many may point out. Anyways, They have a great chance, and in derbys, everything is possible ;) |

possibly the biggest upset in this World Cup
aside with T&T's tie with Sweden. Unbelievable!:) |
Hardly an upset.
Australia have several top players in Europe and Japan is very far from a top team. Any result could happen here. Just look at the pre-match predictions here and the pre-match predictions on the Sweden-T&T thread.
What was unbelievable was how fast they managed to score 3 goals. |

i don't think it was that boring, australia were very attacking and couldn't capitalise on opportunities, and japan were fast on the counter attack.
go australia :D |

Serves Japan right for trying to sit back on a 1-0 lead. Australia clearly dominated the second half (we had 15 shots on goal to 5 at last count - and that was before we put the three goals in) and considering Japan's goal should have been called a foul against the keeper in the first place, I don't think the win was undeserved.
Bring on Brazil. :p |

Haha, well we've got no chance of beating Brazil, but all we really need is for your boys to trounce Croatia tomorrow. A 4-0 win and Australia is a pretty good chance of getting through to the second round. :)
EDIT: Oh yeah, and the full lyrics to "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie":
AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE!
(OI, OI, OI!)
AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE!
(OI, OI, OI!)
AUSSIE!
(OI!)
AUSSIE!
(OI!)
AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE!
(OI, OI, OI!)
It's completely atonal and the there's no rhythm to it beyond what's written. Any other questions? :p |
