hhhhhmmmm, I've heard Luke's and it sounds quality, the beatmatching is perfect so how can it be judged as getting anything other than full marks if it's perfect :conf: if other contestants with same standard beatmatching get the same mark, well than that's fair enough, but 18/25, doesn't sounds right.

what i am wondering is how we can get marked off so much for track selection, are we supposed to make a mix which appeals to the judges taste, sorry but just because i dont put some pvd or some artist that the judge really likes doesnt mean i should get 19 out of 25 for my track selection, i dont know. I thought this was a mixing competition, not who can come up with the best tracklist competition. i think for the next one you should just do it based on beat matching and transition harmonics, or add some other category, tracklist selection isnt fair, because if you are mixing from vinyls like me, you might not happen to have newest best records. i am not saying i had the best tracklist, but i am just suggesting for the next competition to take that part out of the competition, making it more fair to the mixers. if part is based on track selection, it is biased towards the mixer, you cant be biased on beat matching or transition harmonics, because its either good or bad.
anyways, looking forward to the next competition, thnks

Liquid, tracklist was meant to represent how each person developed their tracklist, so 25 would get a good well built set, and 0 wud be playing Scot P - Overdive followed by S Club 7 - Reach, if u kno wot I mean, not 4 personal opinion, and thats why that was taken out.

Can we please get this sorted as I would like for the next comp, which hopefully won't hav these underlying elements or I know a few of us won't be entering. Especially when it comes 2 me being raped 2wice over

if anything, i think you should have gotten a really high score because of your track selection...i heard his mix through a live feed and let me tell you it was amazing. Liquidxxd knows a good song when he hears it and in fact many of the songs he used were totally new to me...the were a good mix of classic and new trance tracks. His mixes were the too..he has a very good concept of what mixes well and when the right time is to start a transition. Overall i would give liquidxxd a very big thumbs up..he knows his .

i must admit,
what i heard from lukes set was amazing stuff. and the beatmatching was v. perfect, i thing it was quite harsh as the entire mix was perfect and pleasing to listen to all the wasy through woth no mistakes or trainwreks at all.
anyways this is just my opinion, so dont take it to heart

1st off, Congratulations to Quddha, Cable, Dave C & Eiergooie :)
Very well done to the 4 of you :)

2nd off, How I judged the mixes:

Track selection.

1st of all i looked at each track list, I was mainly looking for originality, not for what type of music i like.
Patticus for example had a totally unique listing, this made up half of how i scored that section, the other part of how i scored it was how well those tracks flowed into each other, if they gelled together, you know (EG. you would not follow Signum - 2nd Wave with Nat Monday - Waiting).

Beatmatching really speaks for itself and i scored this on how well each DJ acheived that.

Transistion Harmonics i scored by listening to how each transistion flowed, if they fitted together nicely, U know how some DJ's can carry off a vocal line from the last track into the bass and synth sequnce of the following track and it fits so well, oooooo a couple of you managed that so well and was scored accordingly. Also the ease of how the 2 tracks blended, again some DJ's can pull off a transistion without u noticeing the change between one track and another at the cross over point, which again some of you also managed and was also scored accordingly. It was the ease of how the 2 tracks went into each other and if they felt right, i hope i make myself understood on that point lol.

Then lastly i added a couple of points for overall feel of the sets, how they made me feel, if they made me go Ooooooooooo Nice or WOW great transistion and added those scores evenly across the 3 catorgories.

I was not looking at each mix for my favorite type of genre, my fav tracks or who u are, but for your DJing skills which encompass far more than just being able to mix a few tracks together.
I said it earlier in this thread that I was impressed by ALL of your mixes, I know what skills are needed and how much practice and time and effort goes into making a succesful mix, and the standard was very high from all of you.
I had to listen to all of the mixes several times over the last few weeks because it was so hard to pick a winner from so many good sets.
And belive me, at the end it had to be done on silly little mistakes that some of u made, a slightly off beat, the volume not quite matched, I had to be that critical because you were all so good.

At the end of the day, no matter what posistion U ended up at, you should all feel proud of yourselves for the mixes u did, each one impressed me and i feel very lucky to have been able to hear what each of u can achieve.

I look forward to the next comp and would be honoured if u would have me as a judge again.

Congratulations to all of you, very well done.

(stands and applauds each of the TA Mix Comp II DJ's :) :) :) )

That would be me! lol, when i listened to my mix after i recorded it, there was one transition, the volume just spiked in the middle.. I was like, wtf, I don't remember that. Must've been careless with the volume faders or something, but was too lazy to do it again...

OKAY, new rule for comp #3

EACH judge gives a PERSONAL motivation why he/she gave those points to a competitor ... This isn't a try to eliminate the presence of bias towards the mixers, but to justify the scores you have been given ...

agree ???

good rule =)

Fanks to Neo for explaining his method of judging, very incitful (sp?) Hope u do judge next time cuz we all know that u are experienced and prob the best guy on these boards to judge this competition (no offence to the rest). After hearing how close it was at the top i know i have a lot of practice to do and will do so for the next cometition :D Thank you again to the judges for your work

Project T
I agree with Cyrax there shud be, and Neo I hope all the judges were as careful and understanding as u were, although I'm sure they were. Although I would really like Starf0x to post and explain why my marks are so poor in relation to my postion and so we can get on with CMIII, or if you wish to speak privately f0x u kno where 2 find me on IRC, my e-mail is [email protected]. I would really like to know and have calmed down enuff now 2 discuss why.

:whip:

hehe j/k mate...

i dont even DJ... :tongue2

as for the justification. i dont see the point in justifying scores that follow the norm, unless they are extremely bad or extremely good shud there only be an explantion of a score... :eyespop:
