j is the one that worries me. i only slows down when i unzip stuff on it, so i dont use it for much.

c, e, and f is one drive. just partitioned.

i usually try and keep 10% of my drive free at all times, but a lot of the time it doesnt work out that way. :toothless

and dude, it would take me a week of doing nothing but burning to back it all up. i dont have that kinda patience. i usually do like 10 dvdrs at a time then get bored.

I totally hear ya on that, man...but think of it this way. Backing everything up would consume a LOT less time than trying to reacquire everything you (God forbid) might lose in the event of a disaster.

indeed. but i've had so many hard drive loses in my lifetime already. first time it happened i got so pissed i broke everything i could find. last time it happened i cried. seriously.

and the external that died had stuff on it that no one else had. i lost stuff that will never ever EVER be available again. i dropped the ball big time on that one. had a lot of people really mad at me. :( i still have people ask me for some of the stuff that was on there.

Aw man. I've only been thru that disaster ONCE. I lost around 8GB of music, but that sounds like chump change compared to your losses. Dude, it could be worse....try backing things up on CDR. Would take you 3 times longer than DVDRW. Heh, maybe you should have someone come over and do the work for you. :p You tell him what to burn and he does it...hehehe.

Anyone know how to rip a DVD so I can convert it to mpeg/divx?

check www.videohelp.com . by far the BEST website out there for that stuff.

da, i've got 1300+ cdrs backed up with data (not audio, DATA). all that before i got my dvd-r. dvd-r is by far faster and more efficent. so far i've got about 50 dvdrs backed up.

damn i wish i had a digital camera, i'd take some pics of my cd shelf. its quite a sight. :thepirate :toothless

Thanks for the link! I need something to rip DVDs to my hard drive, so then I can convert them to files for my PSP to read. Watching movies at works makes my day go by so much quicker.

Dude, that's an insane amount of CDRs! I have no DVDRs here, but will defintely pick some up for tomorrow, cuz I'm backing everything up for sure.

Sup man.

Yeah, I'm so not losing the stuff I have now, but it took me so long to install and configure the two drives, I don't have much time tonight to back stuff up. Will defintely get started on that tomorrow after work. Oh, and PVD's Soundgarden is on tomorrow! 2 P.M. Eastern Time www.fritz.de You'll need RealPlayer to tune in.

At the moment I'm trying to rip Saving Private Ryan so I can watch that at work tomorrow.
