But why aren't you guys beating down Rihanna for ripping off Soft Cell? Or anyone in the pop music industry? This is done all the time. Don't think it's new just because someone you deteste is now doing it. |
I started a topic about this a while back and i got flamed cause I supposedly didn't know what "sampling" was
I very well know what sampling is
My problem is that from the point that track was released, people born after 1986 (AKA spoon-fed, brainwashed MTV generation) will think of it as the original Rihanna tune, and whenever tainted love comes on it will be known as "the song which copied rihanna's SOS" because they don't know any better.
Which brings me to my second point:
Why is the crap music on the radio so popular? Because people are too lazy to weed out the crapness and will eat anything the media feeds them.
as you pointed out "success goes to the exploiter"
or something like that
and it sickens me |

It's society. For all they care the music can go itself. They just want the image that goes with it. So anything that is portrayed to be the next big thing, will be the next big thing, because according to them, if you don't like their music, your an outsider we should feed to Buffalo Bob.
Personally, I think the world would be alot better is people thought for themselves. My exgirlfriend was listening to this hiphop track saying it was awesome, though I recalled the lyrics to be "I will ing rape your sweet ass and if you don't like it I'll ing cut it off." Such a nice track.
They don't listen to music, they just assume its good music cause its hip-hop or pop or whatever. Thank god for EDM, I would have commited suicide long ago with how horrible art is slowly ting on itself in favor of money.

Oh?
And you're aware, of course, that Tainted Love is originally a 1966 R&B hit by Gloria Jones, but ask anyone in our generation who wrote Tainted Love, and they'll say Soft Cell.
heh. |

even if all these crappy tunes are huge in US and english speaking countries keep in mind most of the international stars sing in english and a lot of people dont understand totally the tunes
im the first one to admit it for example sometimes i have some rap period so i listen to gangsta crappy rap.....why?simple catchy tunes good rythm or beats and i don't even pay attention to what they say and dont bother to translate everything
i guess english would be my native language i wouldn't even listen a full tune

to be fair Soft Cell's cover was a much bigger hit and (im sure many would agree) better than Gloria's. |

Yeah, Christina actually has pipes, which is why I think she became famous in the first place. Britney Spears had a hell of a catchy chorus for her first song, and for whatever reason has had lasting power mainly derived from the production of the tracks and not the vocals.
Paris Hilton's got a name. And an infamous tape to go with it.
VH1 did an interview with her last week and she's boring as . No personality whatsoever. She's like a hollow shell with a famous last name.
But has anyone seen the Pink video where she reenacts the sex tape? Not that great a song, but the video is :haha: |
