to be fair Soft Cell's cover was a much bigger hit and (im sure many would agree) better than Gloria's. |
By that same token of fairness, then, Rihanna's hit is much bigger than either of them put together.
What's your point? That popularity should trump originality? |

Oh?
And you're aware, of course, that Tainted Love is originally a 1966 R&B hit by Gloria Jones, but ask anyone in our generation who wrote Tainted Love, and they'll say Soft Cell.
heh. |
And if you presented that as an example of real R&B to your average MTV bot, they would say..
"Eurgh, thats not R&B, Usher is R&B you crazy fool"
or whatever the kids listen to nowadays  |

out of morbid curiosity, i downloaded more of paris's songs.
not one sounds like the same voice. stars are blind is the best of all of them, and i say that with no excitement at all.
a girl at work actually thought it was gwen stefani when she heard the song.:wtf:
the broad has never had to work a day in her life, so maybe shes just doing this so she can say she has a career. either way its a joke.
the rich keep getting richer...

high chart positions and good sales figures are just a result of perfect marketing in this case
however, there are far worse tracks |

actually it's about something called overstimulation imo!
have you ever thought about how much information, messages and fast paced noises they give you all the time + commecials?
it's to keep your mind flooded with information so it turns numb out of it. listeners won't care because it would be too much of an effort to actually analyze the music all the time.
lazyness maybe but i would call it brainwashing! i do think these radiostations turns into some kind of drug for the listeners.
i know people who just turns on their radios whereever they are but they won't pay any attention to it once it's on and it's always loud enough to make any conversation with the person difficult.
when the constant stream of information becomes your lifeline it's not hard at all to control what you think and what you buy.
check out Derren Brown's Powers of suggestion-experiment where he proves that constant messages will brainwash you into doing impulse like things. it's a very fun experiment to watch, but also frightening to see that we don't make as controlled desicions as we like to think we do. we are very much vulnerable to media and commecials. |

| You've got to hand it to Paris......she's good at surrounding herself with the best people she can find, in much the same way a hole surrounds itself with a donut. |
