you kids are just too young too realize it's always sucked
I lived in the 70s. Even though hendrix was playing at woodstock, the radio was full of crap the depth and horror of which can only be imagined. Neil Diamond, barry manilow, disco duck, the gong show (like american idol dumber) shiver, shiver. Grace Jones was also famous for nothing. The 80s were god awful. Sure the cure was playing, as well as 100s of anonymous, pointless haircut bands. The 90s sucked too. I saw elvis with my aunt when I was a kid, and sonny and cher. They both sucked, baaaaad. It goes all the way back.
I believe the comedian george carlin's rule: 90% of everything and everyone is . 10% golden, shining luminaries of creativity and humanity. The rest -- . Doctors, lawyers, policeman, pastors, musicians, women, men, old, young, any business/job/school/group. 10% gold, 90% . Physical constant of the universe, just deal. If you want to be nostalgic, go read some Ayn Rand from the sixties. Atlas Shrugged is about the idea that what if those 10% that everyone leans on, counts on, just decided to shrug these parasites off for 24 hours and see how they did on their own merits . . . It would be apocalyptic :) |

but you have to admit
today's level of suckness > 70s/80s level of suckness
as far as originality goes, music in general has peaked long time ago and has been on a downward trajectory ever since
the cure is my favorite band by the way
an amazing track record that band has... :eyes: |

No. Not by a mile. The 50s was culturally, morally, and politically beyond any other era in human history in terms of offensively lame pop entertainment.
Two words: Frankie Avalon. |

What do the 50's have to do with the years mentioned in the previous post? |

| actually, its not that bad. it has everything that a modern pop hit needs. its catchy, its nice, its about love... just because paris hilton is a ing retard doesnt mean that the millions of dollars she invested having a single wrote and produced for her will turn out to be bad. i can listen to this song without puking up, which is more than i can say for alot of chart music these days. and stop with the ing music is dead posts for s sake. |

It probably isn't that bad. But I guess I just really don't like pop. First time I heard it I didn't even know it was her, sounded like a new Gwen Stefani song and I was already cringing. :nervous:
Now that I know it's Paris I cringe even harder :wtf: . |
