PVD has always maintained this, saying he plays 'electronic music'.
Can't see a problem with him saying he isn't a trance DJ. Sure he plays it, but not exclusively, why pigeon hole yourself?? |

pfft whatever.. he built his popularity on trance, so even if he plays a variety now.. I think he's still a trance dj.
What about his artist albums? Or his compilations? are they not trance? |

That´s an old story. PVD is ashamed to admit he plays trance. |
exactly. this is not new.
Just listen to what some of the old respected DJ like Dave Angel, Sven Väth and so on have to say about trance. They call it the tiest dance music out there. You think Paul van Dyk would admit that he plays trance?
He wants to fit in that respected category. Even though we all know that he loves to spin cheese such as Nothing But You and Time of our lives. |

Yeh, and the f*cking irony is, Armin gets given the closing set of Dance Valley 2006, and after a weekend of hearing nothing but techno, techno and more f*cking techno everyone was praying for Armin to play some trance like he plays ASOT, just cos we were all sick to death of techno - and what did Armin play ? 75% techno.
And not even GOOD techno.
Gah
:whip:
And I'm sure youve all heard that famous quote by PVD
"Trance had become a dirty word. Thanks to Ian Van Dahl, Lasgo, Flip 'N' Fill and DJ Sammy, a generation of kids has grown up thinking trance is the test music since country and western."
Not really surprising then that he distances himself from it these days. |

What a hypocritical crock of that is. The last few years have seen his own (definitely trance) productions slide down to a similar level of poppy pap. He's sold out and he doesn't want to admit it. |

it depends on the venue, pvd plays more varied music in smaller venues. |
