I saw in an interview he was giving in DJ mag once...i remember saying that "he doesn't play trance, but "melodic electronic dance music" LOL.Well, yea paul it's melodic, its electronic, it's dance and it's called TRANCE!Wow!I mean it has the big riffs/lead-lines, the massive break-down and at times scary female/male vocals, yep it's usually called "epic-trance" , "anthem-trance", "uplifting-trance", "euro-trance", "randomword-trance" it's still this kind of easy-listening breakdown trance you know!nothing more nothing less!!!
But guys, take it easy on paul van dyk...the guy was a great trance pioneer in the early and mid-nineties. He was producing under the legendary "visions of shiva" allias together with all the other trance pioneers aka, Cosmic Baby, Dance 2 Trance, Resistance D, The Arpeggiators, Speedy J, Humate ,Sven Vath(Barbarella), The KLF etc. etc. etc. |

Well, thats a little suprising. I always thought the records I had on the Vandit label with the producer labled as PVD were trance!!!
I guess I was wrong.
Maybe what he plays, he does not catogorize as trance.
I agree with Mortyman. Hes a F*(#&$ing Trance DJ!!

It makes sense, he has played all sorts of hit dance tunes that aren't trance in many of his sets, he seems to play "trancey" like a balance between what he likes and what is currently popular, everybody does that . |
exactly, i've heard spastik, murder was the bass and stuff like that and his sets, go tell armin or tiesto to do that, sky would fall over |
