He's spinning more and more crap house these days, interspersed with some tech-electro house from 2005. Then he throws in some trance here and there, and layers As The Rush Comes randomly over some song via Ableton.

lol +1

I find it quite amusing that trance djs are ashamed to admit that they play music that is based on a pop formula.
See they don't like to be associated with the cheesiness of their dated big-room trance genre so they bull themselves in order to keep their profile high.
The call it 'electronic house', 'house music' 'melodic techno' ect.
If you see the tiesto interview @ Higherfrequency.com you will hear him say that he plays 'house music'.
But we all know he does not play house. At least not house in the 'Derrick Carter' sense of the word....
For the most part him and PVD play big room trance with the occasional 'bonus' cross-genre anthem.

Hey..hey.. wait a minute...Don't..Dont put me in the corner with the 'trance' stuff I play real music too.. you know? I play a broad range of high quality electronic music!
Its not just trance! How dare you!!

While they don't like to see things the way they are if you ask somebody like Armand Van Helden what genre does he spin, filled with enthusiasm and without second thought he will proudly reply : 'I play house Music!'
And that my friends grounds for respect!

A few months ago he also stated in an interview in RELEASE (a music magazine from www.id-t.com) that he considered himself as a techno dj:rolleyes:

He's definitely closer to a techno Dj than a trance Dj imo.

Most of the trance he plays is tech based.
You rarely hear him play any euphoric, floaty trance, but you often hear him playing techno in his sets.

^---I disagree. I saw him in April in Sydney, his last 4 tracks were
1. PVD - For an Angel
2. PVD - Time of our Lives
3. PVD - Nothing but You
4. Dogzilla - Without You

Not to mention the countless ID's in his 4 hour set that had my arms floating and waving about.

Sure it's ok to play a variety of music in a set, and good on ya for doing it. But I've lost ALOT of respect for him after hearing these things come from his mouth. I'll always regard him as a pioneer, adn still one of my favorite DJ's, because I LOVE what he plays... but this is now a case of loving the music, and not the man!

that doesnt make it techno lol
surely if ur saying that the trance he plays is tech based then that makes it tech trance lol

If you listen to his Nature One set from last week, he played about 3 trance tracks (not including his own productions) and 1 electro house track. The rest was either techno or tech trance.

Why exclude his own productions?? He still played them! You can't ignore some tracks and quote the rest!

And tech-trance is still trance!! Why is this so hard to understand?

What a load of . Just listen to his most recent 'love from above' set. that it was, it was full of trance, with the occasional bull 'techno' remix that didnt sound good followed by a trance tune.

e.g.

17.Dave Clarke - Wisdom To The Wise + Johnny Arthur - Out Of It + Paul van Dyk Feat. Wayne Jackson - The Other Side (Acapella)
18. Ronski Speed With Stoneface & Terminal - Incognition (Club Mix)
