I've been to Viva, due to a couple of my friends working there, and when they play trance all you can do is stand there.

Don't paint an entire genre with what you've heard at Viva. 90% of the trance out there IS formulaic garbage that's been emulated since 1997. And that's the stuff that makes most people say trance is dead when they've just stopped listening for something within the genre that's different.

Truth is trance and house have been starting to marry for a while now and it's the most fresh sound out there at the moment. Househeads call it house with trance elements, tranceheads call it trance with housey undertones... it's all similar and it's all good.

Guys like David West, Andy Moor, Thomas Penton, Andrew Bennett, Pryda, D-Nox and Beckers, Jaytech, Jody Wisternoff, etc. etc. have been rocking this stuff and it's nice to hear some people on this board who prefer house acknowledge that trancey elements are contributing to good house tracks as opposed to calling it pure house because trance is a swear word.

Awesome thread by the way Jon, it's been interesting to hear everyone's opinion and I've just purchased two tracks that have been listed in this thread so thanks guys :)

Ferry Corsten - Rock Your Body Rock is one of my all time favorite tracks, but other than that, there's not many other trance tracks I enjoy.

There's something about house that just DOES IT for me.

That track aint trance lol

Right on the money Dennis.
We did see eye-to-eye on music-related issues in the short time we knew each other

I don't know about that sounding housey at all but that track is still the most influential one in my entire life, and still one of my top favorites of all time.
