that grandfinal was disgracefully boring.
yay melbourne won 6-0, hardly does anything for the spectacle of the sport. Melbourne only went from 7th to 1st this year because they bought a whole lot of older players from overseas. Doesnt show anything about developing good soccer players in our own country.
the match was boring as hell, and it was laughable when the SBS commentator said that the scenes of this grandfinal had similarities to the Champions League final.

"Say hello to my little FRED" lol
loved the game, was such a sight to see some of the players i used to support many moons ago at bob jane, playing to a crowd of 55k+....awesome!:toocool: |

How typical
Why can't people accept that soccer is finally taking over here, the way it should be!!! :whip:
The crowd attendance speaks for itself!
Well done Victory! :D |

Crowd looked fantastic and was well up for it! Happy i ended up staying home due to the heat and i also had to send a fax to berlin that was quite urgent. Well done to Fred and Archie on Epic Games!
Would be good to see the game quicken up a bit and for other states to take a note of Melbourne's passion and commitment from a city perspective. That way it may help attract oveseas players and young ones to play the game.
Onwards and upwards from here i think :toocool: |

one of the most important documents of our lives i think.......
and anita, my opinions arent 'typical' of an aussie who is resisting the change of soccer in our life. I like going to the soccer, i support premier league and also play indoor soccer. I just felt that the match yesterday was boring and very much an anti-climax, which was a shame.
The Adelaide vs. Newcastle and also Adelaide vs. Melbourne matches previous were very exciting and great spectacles for the game, however i felt the GF failed to deliver int he same capacity. |

You mean they were sucessful partly because they acted like a professional sporting outfit? Part of developing good players in any code soups is a balance between experienced players & new raw talent. A key to the development of any sportsman/woman is generally through some form of mentorship so having 'older players from overseas' can only be a good thing for the development of soccer players 'in your own country'.
As a Victory supporter i don't think you could ask for much more. After a month of looking less than powerful, it was even more of a surprise in some ways - but the best teams stand up on the big occasions.
The atmosphere inside the Dome was once again fantastic. Bring on 07/08 :) |
