ill add to this. australians are racist? well hold the ing front page! :eyes: never wouldve guessed!
but i tell you what, massive brawls and violence at games being carried out in an ethnic v ethnic manner aint gonna help anyone get over their prejudices. so instead of complaining about the inequity of it all, perhaps finding a way to get people to represent their team or class or race or favourite colour with a bit more professionalism might be the key.
calling people caneaters and arguing they know all about football coz of where theyre from certainly aint winning any votes. |

strike like a flash of lighting
revved up and full of fighting
victory the braveeeeeeeeeee

| its amazing how all of the sudden a flare is no longer deemed an ethnic pastime of a war torn country. Ahh how the times have changed! |

Paulie, if you couldn't see the need for some pretty drastic changes to the way soccer/football was run in this country - and yes, that did have to involve removing the ethnicity from the picture - then you're living in a dreamland.
It's tough that clubs like South Melbourne and Melbourne Knights especially had to suffer, and have left some people feeling like they've been alienated when they supported through thick and thin previously.
But getting all dirty on a new generation of football followers simply because your clubs (and lets face it, supporters of those old clubs and the self-interest of their managers were the cause of most of these problems) aren't involved in the a-league is pretty futile.
I'm going to tomorrow's match and I'm going to love it. It'll be my 4th match this year, and considering I would never have dreamed of going to an old NSL match, I'd have to say they're doing something right. |
