As pathetic as this may sound this has to be the saddest thing I have ever heard coming from you.
Some of the things you just said are contradicting but that is what normally comes out when we are faced with difficult choices like the one you are confronted with.
You appear so close to the goal of having the degree ( despite the fact you have your doubts about it's validity or meaningfulness to you ) but with your desire of wanting to walk away sounds like you may regret it down the line immensely.
Weigh your pros and cons.
Take into account especially the fact are you making this choice because you've lost interest in the field or only because of the inconveniences and the world it surrounds?
If your interest is still there but you still walk away for the wrong reasons be very careful.
One day you may very well wake up and realize this was quite possibly the biggest mistake you ever made.
I know this hasn't been an overnight process of decision you have gone through, but with you being so close to your goal you shouldn't drop it unless you are 200% sure. |

I wonder if there will be a thread for that one too...
Or maybe it will just go by quietly, as though it never even happened... |

look forget about the advertising degree...i was just going for it because it was the easy way out of an education...art school is different. it's easier, no questions about it. i figured since i'm creative, i should go for advertising, but when i think about my dreams, i think about writing movies, becoming a photographer or a music director for movies...anyone knows that is pretty much like saying you want to move to L.A. and wait tables and become an actor. lol gotta have something to fall back on. i'm not willing to put in the effort and time into going after those dreams, and i'm actually OK with that. i'm becoming more in tune with myself and being honest with myself, so don't feel bad or feel like this is sad. i dont think i'll have any regrets. i've been having regrets the whole time i was in the art school..sort of kicking myself for not going to a cheaper, and more accredited college. so this is very exciting for me.
i'm just keeping it real. i think i will be very proud of myself when i finish law school. i will have money to do the things i want to like travel and pursue my artistic side as more of just a hobby...i'm ok with it, i promise:) |

My dad was a mergers/transactions lawyer for 25 years. He enjoyed the first 22 years of his law career. After that, it became boring because he had didn't have room to grow. So he stopped and got a job doing something different in nature. While he was well-payed, after a while it was the same thing each time. Granted he did enjoy it for a long time, if you started when you were 30 and worked for 20-25 years in the law field, you'd be close to retirement.
Here is what I have noticed about lawyers from the people my dad has worked with:
- Lawyers make a lot of money. They are not afraid to show it off.
- Lawyers work WAY to long and seem to be on call at all hours of the day and night. With the invention of the blackberry, it is even worse.
- Be prepared for many short trips to different places. You won't get to really enjoy them.

| I’m fine with the amount of schooling ahead of me. I’m just excited to be going to a reputable school…I was always envious when I’d go to UM games and think, “I should have gone to state school”. So this is it. I don’t care that I’m not going until I’m 25. So what. At the last firm I worked at, one of the female attorneys decided to go to law school at the age of 35 with a 10 year old kid to raise too. She already just had a bachelors degree, but she was like it. People do this all the time. I have time. 32 and being an attorney is great in my opinion. I think my 30’s are going to be the best years of my life and I can’t wait. |

one of my bosses is like that w/ the blackberry. my other boss probably works a total of about 15 hours a week. he mostly golfs and sits on his computer doing online gambling. he drives a new Benz S500 and is about to propose to his girlfriend with a 20 thousand dollar ring.

| again, this really all depends on the type of law and firm you work with. |
