i was just told by a friend of mine about our other friend that got beat up in acapulco a year ago at exact same time. He only got a black eye and a few head injuries but nothing serious.
"he started dancing with a local girl, bouncer kicked him out, and a bunch of locals beat him up and took his money right when he got kicked out, it's a setup"

also how about this
room was robbed before his death

This happens very often at the Palladium.
EXTREMELY often. Only this time someone died.
Anybody who's been to the Palladium as much as I have has seen this at least once or twice. |

| I don't think it is fair to focus on just Mexico. Like any vacation you should be (play) smart. This could happen anywhere...Overall it is a very unfortunate incident. |

When sisters Linda and Nancy Leoni heard about the killing of a 19-year-old Woodbridge man in Mexico earlier this week, they were stunned by how similar the story was to an experience they had in the same place last year.
The women – both students at York University – were at the same Acapulco dance club during spring break when one of their friends was beaten, robbed and dumped along the side of the same road where a fatally injured Adam DePrisco was found early Sunday morning, they said.
"The only difference is our friend survived," said Nancy Leoni.

Family members have spoken to Ontario Chief Coroner Dr. Barry McLellan who is doing further forensic examinations. Despite some media reports, they insist he never told them how he believes Adam died.
They've been told that a bruise was found behind one of his legs, an injury that possibly could have been caused by being struck by a car. But that doesn't help explain how he sustained serious head injuries.
Luisa Pannozzi, one of Adam's cousins, said they've been told it could be another two weeks before further microscopic tests narrow down if he died from a beating, and was hit by a car afterwards, or just struck by a car.
...
An Acapulco city official, who spoke to an Associated Press reporter on the condition of anonymity, said witnesses saw nightclub staff and taxi drivers beating the young man.
...
Tony also believes his brother's death was a result of a planned robbery that ended with him bleeding from his head and dying beside a road.
"He was the victim of a set-up where they rob you because they think you have money," Tony said. "They grab you and take you into a taxicab and drive off and then beat the hell out of you. Then they leave you on the road."
...
Tony said Marco, who had Adam's money, and the key to their hotel room, rushed back to their room but he wasn't there. He returned to the nightclub and found Adam lying on the road, surrounded by a crowd of people.
"The ambulance was there but they wanted $2,000 to take him to the hospital," Tony said.
"Marco scrambled and somehow came up with the money."
...
Wowza on the $2000/ambulance thing. |

OMG... you have got to be kidding me? $2000! to take you to the hospital?? What about travellers insurance?
That really scares me about Mexico now. |

| Since when do they demand the money before hand. I thought they would take you and you are charged later? That is absolutely ridiculous. |

if all these accusations are true, I know I won't be going to Mexico as planned for Reading Week. This is extremely disturbing and saddening.
By the way, I saw on TV that the Foreign Minister is going to meet Mexican officials to discuss the matter. We'll see what, if anythinhg comes out of that. |

I know that is the policy in other countries.. US for example. But I never really put two and two together that this could happen in Mexico.
I have been there half a dozen times and I've only been exposed to friendly mexicans.
But St. Maarten.. now that place scared me at night. |
