The second half of the season, really showed him to be a rookie. In the first half, I think he was just having fun, excited to be even fighting for wins, let alone the title. Once it kicked in, that he may actually have a chance, his nerves came a bit undone.

I won't say he failed or chocked, just that he acted like a rookie when it got tough. China and Brazil were both a case of him trying too hard. He could have backed off and just a bit, and gotten much better results; infact his race engineer should have told him to do so. "Calm down, you will get through this, just keep your car straight, and don't over drive". The others played it really cool, and well since they have all been there before, why shouldn't they?

Great season by Lewis, hats off, but he is not as cool as the Ice Man.

How would you perform if all they talk about is you and try to present yourself in a bad way no matter how good you do. For example last race when Kimi encountered Lewis in his qualifing run, he got attacked by the media for blocking Kimi which was just a way to get a good story for their newspaper. Add that the pressure of becoming the youngest world champion ever and everybody expecting you to win the WDC puts alot of pressure on a 22 year old rookie ( even MS couldn't handle that amount of pressure on certain moments in his carreer too ). Alonso and Kimi had nothing to loose and the media left them alone as they were the underdogs.

Probably the most domination sportsman nowadays is Federer (tennis) and allmost he failed when he had to deliver at very important occasions which he should have been easy for him ( such as Wimbledon 2007 trying to equal Bjorg his record ) due to media pressure while his competition being the underdog had an easy time, so this is not very uncommon happening what happened to Lewis.

It's not about me, its about Hamilton and other drivers. I have not been racing for more than a decade, and am not getting paid a million dollars.

Alanso won the championship at the age of 24 (?) thats pretty close. He failed to handle a different kind of pressure this year, but hey, he already has two championships under his belt.

Massa and Kimi were playing with each other at the end of the race, awesome. They both set fastest laps near the end.

Kimi set the fastest lap of the race on lap 66, @ 1:12.445.
Massa set the 3rd best time on lap 71, @ 1:12.584.

I think this is going to be a great rivalry next year. Massa has battled with everybody this year, and we know he likes to race. He will be so hungry for a championship, he will go all out. Although he was fairly beat this year, I expect him to really fight next season.

Now the question is, who is best with out traction control? I can't wait till the shut that off. I want to see more mistakes dammit.

Alonso and McLaren parted ways today. I don't know if one party paid the other to get out of the deal. It sounded like a mutual split according the report on Autosport.com

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

When Alonso joined Mclaren as a world champion, he expected the team to revolve around HIM. In comes a rookie driver with no formula 1 experience and turns everything upside down ! To the point that the former world champion is out of the team now. :stongue:

Toyota also have a seat free don't they?
They wouldn't even have to chage the name on the side of the cockpit.
And they've got the money.

Thats assuming Alfonso will return to Renault.

noikeee
Toyota will sign Timo Glock to partner Jarno Trulli, it will be announced the following days. 99% sure.
