BT - The Antikythera Mechanism

Hello everybody...
i was just browsing on this site and i suddenly saw this track(its name) and i was very curious about it....i saw that its going to be no.1 track of 2006 so i decided to listen to it...
i will sum my story and just say : WTF?!!!
how can you consider this track as a trance tune?
its like a chillout/ambient track and has nothing to do with trance...
i really appreciate BT ,but like i said before-this particular track has nothing to do with trance (as a matter of fact-his whole cd "the binary universe" is a chillout cd) |

| Great observation; however, the name of the poll is TranceAddict Track of the Year. The winner does not necessarily need to be a trance song. Although I'm uneasy about this winning as this is the TranceAddict Forums. And additionally I'm not that impressed by the song anyways, but then I'm only one person. |

In the past, there have been certain parts of the TA populace that has been regularly displeased with the result of the TOTY polls. The Antikythera Mechanism is going to be an important landmark in TA because it represents the moment when the cynicism and disillusionment towards modern trance has outvoted the enthusiasm. In other words, it's the moment when the jaded "elitists" on TA are made official. That forced "need to explore other genres to find quality" eclecticism manifested. A sign of the times.

| i think its stupid that only one non trance track was in the final, fair enough that people are listening to other stuff. i know i am but its ridiculous that people are just voting for a track just because its the only non trance track in the list. there were some great house tracks made this year aswell i dunno wat people saw in this track compared to all the other stuff that was our there this year that wasnt related to trance........ |

i think because people hates something familiar. people love unfamiliar things. |

i think it would be a safe assumption to say that atleast about half of the people voting in this thing didnt c one of those tracks as the one that was their favourite this year.
and please hardly anybody would consider bt's track as their favourite of the whole year |

I'd go for the exact opposite. The Antikythera Mechanism hails from an album which:
1) Is from a much-loved former trance producer.
2) Was hugely hyped.
3) Has probably been the most talked about electronic LP of 2006, at least on this forum.
So if you're going to choose a non-trance track that a lot of people can get behind and agree was a great track, something from This Binary Universe is more logical than trying to nominate an idiosyncratic favourite Kode9 track half of everyone won't even have heard. It's a case of putting aside personal choices and getting behind a track that wasn't your favourite, but was at least very enjoyable.
EDIT: I'd also out vital verbs from my sentences. |
