I agree with you on some level.

I see what you mean. as with a credit card you are spending money that isn't yours. So it can be seen as a stupid decision.
Thats why there are so many adverts for people to get out of cc debt. people end up racking up 1000's of pounds of bills on 'em. when really they dont need to.

I'd say only 20% of all people use them for the right reasons and in a reasonable manner. why spend money you haven't got?

okay, i wasn't trying to make a blanket statement, obviously not all cc debt is accrued by out of control spending, but there certainly is a trend of people paying only the minimum on their cards, and spending as if they can keep it up, but like you say, there are exeptions.
