| You are all chooners. Epic trance is the lamest . If you are a DJ who spins more than two epic trance tracks in one set you should be shot! |

Was going to argue a point here, but having had a quick flick through your previous posts, I think there's more chance of getting a brick to drink from a river, so i'm going to continue with that research :) |

back in the 99-02 phaze, so much amazing stuff was coming out...from 03-pres, a lot of good stuff has come out, but it requires waaaaaaaaay more research. To much stuff sounds the same and uninspiring. Tracks are coming out nowadays that i'd easily put on a cd years back, but at this point, they just sound tiresome.
Anjunabeats was for awhile a very refreshing label, but as they kept getting bigger, even they fell into the 'sameness' trap.
My main point being, trance is still alive, it just takes a lot more digging to find something worthwhile than it used to. |

We're not cool with idiots. Act like one, and you will be treated as such. That includes making ridiculous blanket statements which add absolutely nothing to the thread, like this one:

Yes this is true. Ever hear of too much of a good thing? It's tension and release that makes a DJ set kick ass. You spin every single track in your set with epic trance and it's like listening to tiesto (which I equate to eating stale bread). Please do trance a favor and don't spin more than two of these tracks in the same set! |

What if the DJ likes epic trance and the crowd? what if that is what they want? The DJs can play what they want to play and what the crowd wants to hear, there's no rule that there always has to be tension and release. Sure it's nice to have that, but there are time constaints on DJs. Some might not have time to really build a set, they might just want to have fun and play popular tracks. If they are at some big event like Trance Energy, and the crowd seems to like epic trance, and the dj is an "epic trance" DJ, then who cares. Your not an "epic trance" DJ if you are playing techno, house or psy trance. Sure variety is good, but some DJs prefer a certain style or sound, but there are plenty of epic trance DJs who also play tech trance or progressive trance in their sets. I don't hear people complaining about psy trance DJs, that all they play is psy trance, cause they are psy trance DJs and that is what they play. I think that the people on here who hate epic trance are the same ones who 5 or 6 years ago were probably listening to it, and DJ sets with more than two epic trance track in a set. |

wow ok this is the lamest point i have ever come across on these boards. btw tiesto hardly plays epic trance any more. The good DJs are evolving and moving on past Trance, right now trance just isnt in, maybe one day some one will reinvent it and the sound will be fresh again. but for now its simply not as stimulating as it was before. A dj should pride himself on improvisation, and being well rounded in his sound, not so much one dimensional playing any specific sound.maybe thats what u where trying to say? |

I actually would have to agree, I have heard some really good trance tracks lately. I have really been impressed with Breakfast, Simon Patterson, Blake Jarrell, etc... It's definately not the flood that there was back in the day...
however, I personally like sets with different styles as long as the tracks flow well together.
Everyone dogs on the classic ASOT, but there are always a couple jewels in there. So quick to group an entire like... 5 years of shows into one group saying that its the same thing over and over.
and Camsr you obviously havn't heard the new epic remixes from dj luxor!!! SO EPIC~! :thepirate |
