Who's excited for the Underworld prequel? It sucks that Kate Beckinsale isn't in it though. |
it may not be worth seeing then |

Ok, so I watched Beerfest (Same guys that did Supertroopers).
For the record, I was sorely disappointed. Beerfest is not even in the same category as Super Troopers. :( |

Beerfest had its moments but Super Troopers was funnier for sure. |

Aren't there any good horror movies out there? I just watched Pathology and it was soo boring (minus all the sex lol). I guess I'm looking for something more extreme. |
Martyr, not really a jump & scare horror, but a pretty horrific horror. When I saw it at Midnight Madness, someone ended up throwing up in the theater.
A+ movie. |

Eastwood gives a warm and fuzzy performance as "Wally". I love how even though he tries his best to portray this , deep down he's grounded with solid values that gives his character nobility. His actions in the movie speak volumes of his heroism, even before the final act. This story is just good old fashioned story telling.
4.5stars/5stars
Million Dollar Baby
Letters from Iwo Jima
Gran Torino
I love his choice of movies lately, all character focused stories in the hands of an expert craftsman who understands that story is king. |
AMAZING movie! Just saw it on Saturday night. I actually laughed a lot at all the racist jokes, and names. The guy is just getting better with age.
Tao's acting wasn't the best, but he served his purpose. |

I'll have to check Martyr out. I actually much prefer horror movies that aren't you're typical "jump and scare" b/c they generally have more intelligent, creative writing. |

Martyr was great, bit difficult to watch in parts but worth it. It's more torture-porn than anything, but very horrific in parts.
The themes the movie touches on are also pretty interesting, it was almost like "intellectual torture-porn", had me and my friends talking about it for a week or two after we watched it.
In some ways, something like Hostel is more visually graphic in the gross-out factor, but that for me was like, cheap-gross out factor. Martyr while not as gory in parts, takes it to another level of uncomfort. |

Definitely sounds like you have the same taste in horror movies as I do.
I'll check it out. I've been saying for a long time that there haven't been many good quality horror movies lately. |

Saw Delirious from 2006 with Steve Buscemi and Michael Pitt...I thought it was actually pretty funny...
Les, a small-time celebrity photographer desperate to make it big, befriends Toby, a homeless young man with no direction except a vague desire to become an actor. When by chance Toby becomes romantically involved with K'Harma Leeds, the hottest pop star of the moment, Les grows jealous and plots revenge. |
