well I'll be brief. I mostly listen to techno, house, tech house, and progressive house nowadays. I love older progressive trance, but recent Trance doesn't even vaguely resemble the idea of "what is trance" that the older songs have built in my mind. Expressing my opinion shouldn't be interpreted as insulting, because I am under no compunction to like PVD just as you don't have to like Magda or Danny Howells unless you want to. I wouldn't pay $30, let alone more, for PVD alone, or for most DJ's alone for that matter. To get me to pay that much, someone needs to be one of my favorites or headlining along with other significant talent. I would be interested in meeting up with other TA's before the show, and if some of you would prefer to listen to house and maybe a bit of techno instead of going to PVD I know of a good party. After all, despite the outdated name of the board, TA is a general EDM community built up of a wide variety of musical tastes, and I know that there are plenty of other people here whose favorite music is something other than trance.
Really I don't know why you need to be so defensive when all I did was dare to have a perhaps unpopular difference in musical taste from yours. It doesn't matter how many trancelovers read this board, it's not ed for me to disagree with them. Moreover, they should probably form their musical tastes independently of my approval, and either way they should stop bitching.
as for being too harsh to the guy, I apologized in my other reply. And it is really impolite to not use click-to-play, things making noise without my permission is something that particularly irritates me more than almost anything else on the internet, I just could have been more diplomatic in saying so. |

lex is right about the booking fee but also $30 early on wasn't a bad deal, $40 is worth it too, for 8 or 9 hours of trance/house/hiphop music in multiple rooms as it just isn't PvD. As hard as it will be for me to pull away from PvD, I'm going to try and head downstairs for Alibi and their guests. I do think progressiveMOJO first 2 points were unnecessary at least in this thread, no need to downplay the night for those looking forward to it.
Anyway this pre-PvD dinner sounds like a good idea. Is there a place nearby, perhaps walking distance from 1015? I know there's a Buca di Beppo on Howard but I've never been to it, only the one by my house in Campbell. Italian food may be a bit heavy for the night though, so other places are welcomed :D
edit: Lexxx brought up Buca di Beppo as well and Chevy's on 4th & Howard.

YAY! I am so excited.
I love Buca di Beppo. I don't think I have eaten anything other than appetizers at Chevy's. I think I remember liking it. Chevy's will probably be "lighter" than Buca. I'm cool with Chevy's. How far away is it?
Any other ideas?
Also, what time would everyone like to get together at? |

Kind of leaning towards Chevy's at the moment because of the lighter food, appetizers and drinks. Frank said it doesn't get too packed on Saturdays compared to Buca de Beppos.
Chevy's is actually on 3rd, not 4th, so it's 4 blocks away from 1015. Here's a map from 1015 to Chevy's

I'll contact a few more 1015 regulars/nonTA to see if they'd like to come. Hope some LATAs can join us too. Anyway back to work :p |

You have to factor in PvD's booking fee plus Ten15 has a small main room overall. It's overall capacity can hold quite a bit, but it's main room capacity is smaller than Ruby Skye's. I know TONS of people who simply won't go see PvD in SF because the main room in Ten15 is so small the place is just crushing. I also don't go a lot of times because of this issue. When I was in shape I could deal with itm, but I'm a fat bastard right now and super stuff sweatpits make me miserable!
As far as food goes, Buca di Beppo is the most overrated piece of crap restaurant around. Sorry! I love italian food and the food there might as well be TV dinners. :-p
And yes, the waits there are HORRID. Unless you have a reservation (which you need to get well in advance for weekends), you could be waiting for a few hours to get a table. Yes, a few. Don't think I've waited less than two the times I've been there. Usually close to three.
If you are gonna have a large party eating dinner at Chevy's at 3rd & Howard, just be sure to call the morning of and tell them a large party is coming at what time and they set you up a table, hopefully in the side strip area of the place that's more private/quiet and you can have more fun talking to each other.
The Chevy's at 3rd & Howard is where we used to have our TA dinners trying to get DJs to come. GOt Armin to come one time, that was COO! :P

Dave | Bucca di Beppo is ok, but it's just too heavy in my opinion. I hope everyone who wants to go will post hopefully before or on Thrusday so I can call that night during my class break.
I remember those dinners (at Sushi Boat too) wanting to go especially the Markus Schulz one! Oh well at least I still got to see him later that night :D
Is 7:30PM a good time for everyone? 2 hours to hang out and eat/drink then head to 1015 at 9:30 or earlier to try and beat the line?
Blurr, Lexxx and Frank know of TA but haven't registered/posted yet. |

Love to join you guys for dinner but I've committed to party with my party peeps starting on Friday night. We'll house party in San Jose all Friday night through Saturday and head out to the City about 11pm. We'll probably end up back to the house party Sunday morning :eyespop:
Anyone who wants to join us, please let me know. We'll also have an open deck for who ever wants to play. |
