A father-of-two hanged himself live over the internet in Britain's first 'cyber suicide'.
Kevin Whitrick, 42, took his life after being goaded by dozens of chatroom users from across the world who initially believed he was play acting.
But as they watched in horror, Mr Whitrick climbed onto a chair, smashed through a ceiling and then hanged himself with a piece of rope.
Kevin Neil Whitrick, 42, was found dead by police in Wellington, after being alerted by a web user who is thought to have watched in horror as the man harmed himself.
Stunned by what they had witnessed - broadcast on a popular chatroom website used by millions of people across the globe - chatroom users immediately contacted the police.
Officers rushed to the electrician's home in the Wellington area of Shropshire within minutes, smashing down the door to try to save him.
But despite their efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is ing sick that people would be egging him on. Just because it is the internet doesn't mean that it filters out the horrid things you say to someone else, especially when they are vulnerable, and not in their right state of mind.

I do, he's the one who keeps telling me how burning peasants and hippies will offset my carbon footprint for having flown around the world about 3 times. Apparently if I keep burning the hippies I'll actually get some credit.
Actually this is sort of like the more modern day version of someone finding a tall building when they're feeling suicidal and the crowd gathers so they actually jump. |

I think it's terrible people actually encouraged him.
I mean..suicide isn't a joke; no matter how minscule the chances are of someone being serious.:mad: :whip: :( |

| He did log into an 'insult' chatroom though which isn't the most compassionate of places (Bit like coming to the the COR actually sometimes...) so I'd say he was going to do it anyway rather than leave a note so the bobbies wouldn't have to come around 2-3 days later and cut him down. :( |

Actually, I think it was a major cry for help. He was trying to solict attention onto him because his life completely fell apart. From a psychological sense, I think he went into the insult chatroom to see if he had anything left to care anymore..:(
I dunno...He must have been under extreme duress to be doing something like that.. |
