i know those were the only words that came out of my mouth at the exact moment when i lost control of my car during a really bad car accident that i was in a few years ago.
whether thats force of habit or our true belief coming out....i dunno.
thoughts? do any of you atheists catch yourselves saying "oh god" in serious times of distress?
but yeah...im still an athiest. lol |
I think its just a figure of speech... ill use "thank god" or something simular sometimes, even tho i dont mean it literly. |

I think both ends of the spectrum are ridiculous. To not believe in god is just as stupid as believing theres some supreme being watching over all of us. God is you. If you ever studied the humble beginnings of major religious movements you could see that their message was a noble one. Over time religions become corrupt as the spiritual aspects took a back seat to ritualism. Naturally, the relationship between state and religion didn't really help the situation.
All religions essentially talk about the duality of man, and give pointers on how to be a strong, emotionally developed, spiritual, objective person. None of it is supposed to taken literally, it is up to us to find a meaning that is unique to us. I choose not to subscribe to any one particular belief or religion, I have my own beliefs based on things that I've experienced and knowledge I've come across.
However, I pity atheists, who think they have a leg up the rest of us because they believe in nothing. What a contradiction, to believe in nothing is still a form of belief, just a bad one lol. We all need to believe, its as human as breathing. |

Ok.
Then how would you define religion? |

Do you believe in a god that satisfies
Do you believe in a god that opens eyes
Do you believe in a god that tells you lies
Or do you believe in me?
Do you believe in a god that brings you down
Do you believe in a god that wears aground
Do you believe in a god that makes you bow
Or do you believe in me? |

Ya, I def believe in God...always have, always will:)
And i do need Him in my life.
I'm not one of these slappies that condemns anyone who doesnt tho. Thats your choice.
For ppl who feel they dont need religion in their lives, i def respect that as well, as I do any opinion about anything:D
Wanna try to clear up the church from God thingy.
The overall grand scheme of religions are corrupted, as pretty much everyone assumes.
But, that doesnt mean GOD corrupted them, or intended them to be that way. Cause He def didnt. Thats just the greed of men manifested.
So please dont blame God when you lash out on religions being corporations of manipulation...cause again, thats MAN:mad:
Anger and resentment towards religious institutions is justified, no doubt, but not towards God imo:happy2: |

| 100% athtiest. The way I see it, if there are different religions all over the world believing in different things completely, than religion in general has to be bogus. |

Heh, that doesnt make much sense, cause if it did than NOTHING makes sense...
Ex. N.America eats completely different food than ppl in Asia, who eat different food from ppl in Africa - does this mean the idea of food in general is bogus?
It does STILL give everyone much-needed nutrition ya??
And this'd apply to EVERYTHING (politics, way of life, language and so on):) |

What people eat, and the way people live is derived from their geographical area, and for the most part we are open minded about different ways of living, and different foods that people eat around the world. Yes it gives us "much needed nutruition", but I don't need my weekly "religion dose" to live, lol.
As far as religion goes, people from the different types are all very avid that there way is the right way, and with so many variations of what happens when you die for example, I don't agree that what everyone religion claims can be possible. |
