Here is a poor argument by anology, which attempts to strike some faith into the heart of your avarage athiest by making him seem like a fool. I had to do this for my morals and reasoning class and I thought it was very humarous.
Is that supposed to be a sarcastic joke ??? Cuz if thats the average Christian mentality then i dono what to say!

It's enraging at the same time it's hilarious. Especially when the elders are challenged to think objectively about their beliefs. I laughed at how agitated they became.
My favorite part was when the one dude was referring to Jews saying, "These people hate God and worship the rectum!"

Hmm.. I'm somewhere in between agnostic and atheist. I don't believe in God in the usual way - Bible, Quaran, and everything else related is bull - God doesn't talk to people, nor did it ever have a part-man part-God likeness walking the earth, it doesn't do miracles because you pray for them, it doesn't even care if you pray to it, and it most certainly doesn't judge you. All that crap was just made up by people with big imaginations to make the simple people back then to adhere to a common set of basic moral rules. Maybe so that people would agree on stuff they don't necessarily understand and not fight over it. Of course, it'd be great if it was just ONE set of beliefs and moral rules, but people had to make their own religions with their own stories and lessons, which created differences, which created rifts, which created wars, and there went the basic idea of making the set of beliefs to keep people happy and at peace.
Don't even get me started on organized religion - put in a nice way, organized religion is a disease upon humanity. It hinders free thought and free speech, it uses the many for personal gains of the few, it manipulates people, and it is the biggest cause of pain, suffering, and loss of human lives that we will ever know.
What I do believe is that God is more like a governing force of the universe rather than some supernatural being as He is described in your bible. What I said in the other thread kind of describes it:
This force is everywhere, at all times, but it is not a petty being like Santa that cares if you've been bad or good, and watches over you at all times.
BTW, those waiting or searching for proof of God, you might as well give up now - it will never happen. I think if we were ever to prove God exists, that would destroy the existence of God. Like, since God is a supernatural being, and if we prove it using our natural earthly ways, then you're essentially bridging the gap between the supernatural and the natural. So you'll be bringing God down to our level. And if you do that, it's no longer God. I hope this makes sense. I don't know if proof of non-existence of God is possible or not.
Nicely said Furball. I'm in the same bandwagon, except that I'm completely agnostic. I'll get my proof of a god's existence somehow, maybe in death, but that's enough for me. I like the idea of bridging the gap. ;)

For First Time, Chimps Seen Making Weapons for Hunting
By Rick Weiss

Chimpanzees living in the West African savannah have been observed fashioning deadly spears from sticks and using the tools to hunt small mammals -- the first routine production of deadly weapons ever observed in animals other than humans.
The multistep spearmaking practice, documented by researchers in Senegal who spent years gaining the chimpanzees' trust, adds credence to the idea that human forebears fashioned similar tools millions of years ago.

Those parents should all go to jail... into the isolation room for the rest of thier life, they wouldnt mind it anyway cuz they would go to heaven. Someone should paintball those people everyday so they off the streets.

I don't believe that the human mind has the ability to comprehend what lay outside our solar system, our galaxy, our dimension, our universe, whatever.
It amazes me that people believe in God, Allah, Vishnu, etc. The universe is BILLIONS of years old, humans and most reigions don't date back beyond a couple of thousand years. We all think we're so smart, when in the grand scheme of things we are so insignifigant. I'm certain there is something out there, but I'm not willing to go so far as say it's a diety.

PLAIN AND SIMPLE: if you believe in God, then there is no such thing as free will... If you believe in free will, there is no God
