How does the Guv get away with this every time? (pg. 3)

yes, I've seen it here in Ottawa, in Montreal (see beginning of thread) but amazingly, not at the Guv. I think even Stevie Wonder could tell that the Guv is a fire hazard (among other things).

And the irony in all this is that the bar staff (ones responsible for much of this) would be able to do their jobs easier. You think bouncers and paramedics can get through crowds like that during fights, OD's, emergencies?

no, sheep you are not.

do you think that if someone was on the stairs in the guv main room, and a fire broke out, that they would have a reasonable expectation to get out alive?

that is not for you or me to detertmine. There are paid professionals that make that assertion. And trust me i can assure you that lately EVERY club has been getting very routine inspections because mayor miller is really trying to kill the club scene. He wants to make way for more condos. If that isnt obvious to you perhaps his decision to make fez batik into a homeless shelter should convince you?

on one of the big events that we had to do this one direction thing it took me over 45 mins to get from guv floor to the drink doors. it was so crowded that someone managed to get a feel, and not only could i not see who it was, but i couldn't twist my body enough to get out of the way. i can say without any uncertainty, if there had been a fire that day i would have died from either the fire or being trampled to death in the panic

Its a club not a soccer field. If soemthing bad were to happen there would be more than just that one or 2 open doors to escape from. Suddenly there would be 20 doors open. Did you ever think of that?

Well different jurisdictions have different rules. Hey, if you dont like capacity levels at certain clubs its quite simple. DONT GO TO THEM

hahahahaha seriously?

Ok your level of ignorance is astounding thats all i can say. ... and sheep i am not... people around here can tell you that im anything but!

BTW id seriously limit what you have to say about certain clubs and the police because otherwise the only person reported will be you for libel... and it has happened many times on the net in the past...

It wont be me doing the reporting but i can assure you that a lot more people than you think actually read these threads..

so id be shutting up right about now

LOL, do you even know about libel laws? You are talking a journalism graduate here. That's why I've used words such as "alluded" and "possibly implicated" here. I guess you can include another 20 or so of your TOTAs who have been speaking much more damning than me :p

Buddy, I hope that you are consistent with your "warnings" and stuff on tranceaddict, as I see all sorts of libel and slander all over this internet forum. Your motivation for your warnings reeks of something else, definitely not out of concern for TA's.
Spin Laden
Anyways, I know your concern is to not open up a can of worms that they will kill the Guv, etc. But a compromise has to be met here, because the clubbing experience should not be like that, with some TAs almost involved in fights and other degenerating to anti-asian comments and stuff.
Jayx1
yeah its because i work for clubs in toronto and i am dismayed at the level of ignorance displayed here...

so if you are implying i have a personal stake in this issue, I do. And i make no apologies for it.

*post edited above.. offers to shake hands with PM*

too nice outside to continue arguing in circles. I'm out. As bar staff, I would be a bit more sympathetic to ppl's concerns on here, and of course if anyone wants to take overcrowding issues further, keep in mind jobs are at stake too, so don't be too alarmist with your complaints.

Fair enough? :p ;)
Jayx1
exactly... thats my whole point. Its one thing to say "wow it was crowded" but to go on about fire marshalls and calling the star. That really pissed me off. There is no need for that. The media loves sensationalism and politicians love to use that for political gain.

Thanks for starting to understand where im coming from!

Now go out and BBQ something LOL

PS i dont work at guv... but what people dont understand is that once u start trouble for one club..that trouble will spread right back to you.

I support all clubs in toronto whether they are competition or not.
