How does the Guv get away with this every time? (pg. 4)

| i don't want to read this thread but i have to say that every party i have ever been to with a major headliner was very crowded - this is not a guvernment phenomenon |

Its a club not a soccer field. If soemthing bad were to happen there would be more than just that one or 2 open doors to escape from. Suddenly there would be 20 doors open. Did you ever think of that? |
i know where all the doors are in relation to where i was. i was probably in the worst spot possible if there was a fire, and yes, i would have died.
and jay, before i say anything in a thread you're in, i think it over ...and over ... and over (and i say this with love) |

| Not to add gas to the fire or anything but I do agree that if anyone complains, either 1) nothing will happen because Guv lubed up enough people or 2) you will notice big changes, such as stricter security checks at the door (anyone who tries to sneak in drugs) higher admission prices, parties that would end earlier, or just simply the club closing down. |

whatever happened to simply not going somewhere if you dont like the service?
This is just as bad as those who whine about whats on tv when they have the power to change the channel.

As i said, thats your opinion and you are free to it. But there are paid professionals who obviously disagree. |

Fanboys, drug dealers and trance crackers? |

This is the main reason I don't go to big events anymore. I'm not complaining now, but I have to say that the Guvernment does tend to overpack its events. Does anybody remember Labour of Love 2002? Even Decadence last year was bull. It's just not fun when you have to wait 20 minutes to get a bottle of water, wait half an hour to take a piss in a disgusting washroom, and get pushed and crammed at every turn. On top of this, prices are usually upwards of 40-50 bucks these days. No thanks!
I have much more fun going to places like Purple Room now or just a regular night out at the Barking Frog in London in the lounge where two of my friends consistently play decent house music. Or maybe I'm getting old? |

really, all i want is big ing garage-like doors all through the club, so if there was a fire, there wouldn't be crazy bottle-necking at the door
|
KH has about 3 exits, 2 of them are garage sized, the way it was yesterday i'd say to clear out the club it would take about 10minutes at most..they are also used to bring equipment in when trucks pull in
Guv would prolly be a bit worse but it is smaller, it has 3 exits afaik, depending on your location you would be able to get out in 5minutes
Btw the example you mentioned about the stairs at the guv/the drink. That would be honestly one of the best spots in case of the fire, you would get out in less than 30seconds
and SpinLaden honestly stfu, what kind of a retard would notify the authorities about this? do you really want to get another club shutdown? It was quite obvious what to expect when you saw 100 people on the rollcall, i know i did. |

I don't understand what all the bitching is all about. Glow here in DC is every bit as crowded on a major night, and the nights that it is not crowded such as last night when Junkie XL spun were boring and just didn't carry the vibe. I usually hang out near the DJ booth since I'm there for the music and couldn't give a what goes on in the rest of the club, plus that's there all the hardcore EDM people are, and it is very hard not to make new friends in any given night there. Crowding is a fact of life for ANY event where there is a celebrity regardless of the genre.
Nobody is going to shut down Guvernment, because if they did they would be just plain stupid. Guvernment is a major tourist destination, and I have many friends in the U.S. who have made trips to Toronto with the Guv being their main purpose, but of course other businesses such as restaurants and lodging, and stores making money off them as well. Guvernment is one of the only places in North America where you can have a truly European EDM experience and it would be wise for Toronto to continue to capitalize on that.
I have been to Guvernment, on multiple occasions ( used to live in Canada ) and can tell you that at any venue in the metro DC / Baltimore region can be just as crowded, and there is far more potential for problems on big hip hop nights where the overcrowding is combined with guetto thugs high of coke snorted off the back of toilet seats.
I find it amazing how much some people in Toronto bitch about the Guv, since ALOT of people in alot of cities in North America would love to have a place like the Guv but unfortunately do not. Also it is a good thing that the Guv always gets a turnout so then you don't have the money effect - where some clubs such as Glow tend to only book who will bring in alot of money rather than who will spin a kick ass party. So to sum it up, if you don't like the Guv, stay home. |
