When I hear the word tech-trance....I think Sander Van Doorn.
What i'm talking about resembles nothing even close to that style of music. |

But we're not in Europe... We're in North America. More specifically Toronto, and I ain't complaining. |
So by this logic since we live in North America the progression and advancement of high end luxury cars does not matter since we don't live in Europe? |

 please... thats so narrow minded.... he isnt saying that europe is the be all and end all, he says it sets a standard, or better yet, it is where this culture originates, hence the reason to look to europe for answers. |

Based on the scene in Europe, the variety in Europe, the sheer volume of producers and DJ's coming out of Europe, the quality of clubs in Europe, the quality of parties in Europe....
I think it would be a safe to accept that Europe is where it's at. Anyone who has been to Europe and partied there will attest to this. |
I don't doubt you that Europe has one helluva parties all the time, but each scene has its own quirks and character. If you add cultural aspects into the mix, sometimes a scene is completely different.
For example, would you say that the Israeli scene is less developed than Europe scene just because it's got a lot of psytrance? Or Brazil which has its own brand of techno scene (but heavily influenced by house from what I hear)?
While I agree that there's helluva a lot coming out Europe that every scene in the world should at least take a look at, but just blindly following European scene IMO is just silly. What may work for Europe not necessarily work elsewhere or scenes around the world crappier than Europe all the time. |

Seriously!
So we're getting a new Main Room, a new Acid Lounge, a new entrance, and hopefully a redone Patio.
I graduate from my department on Saturday (May 12th) and my school on Sunday (May 13). I might have to make a quick trip up to check out the club and drive back right after all sketchy LOL. |

Yohan, in terms of house, tehcno, and trance, what's happening in Europe right now is very much at the forefront of progression. While each different area of the world has it's own influences, and own distinct sound, generally speaking, the widest variety of sounds, and the highlest level of quality is coming from Europe. While Israel has a strong psytrance scene, and Brazil has their own blend of techno/house, the majority of trends and progression do take place and orginate from European producers, on European soil. Much like American breeds MTV type artists, for the most part Europe breeds dance artists. To assume that I haven't taken into consideration what's happening in all the corners of the globe and calling me silly for it is a rather silly assumption to make on your part. |

LOL.
I think we're pretty much on same page on this, but I read your initial post as too much emphasis on all scenes should adopt the Europe scene.
I'm an immigrant. I'm suppose to speak poor English :p |

I disagree with this one. I know at least a few people that are just getting into EDM and they don't like Trance at all, but love house. |
to disagree with a statement because of a few people doesn't mean squat. If they are just coming into EDM then yes they probably like house more because house is what they hear the majority of the time.
I think its safe to assume that the majority of people who are true EDM fans....and not bandwagoners.....started with Trance and have grown to enjoy the other styles because Trance got them into the scene. |

bash z103.5 all you want.. but the fact is, it's getting alot of previously closed-minded EDM haters into the genre. Let your friends listen to it for awhile, then kindly direct them over to Club 246 or Energy |
are these people actually becoming true EDM fans or are they just bandwagoners and when country music becomes the next hot thing will they stop listening to EDM and start listening to country. I am sure there is a small percentage that will actually become fans and not just bandwagoners.

The past trends in EDM show that Europe is where the scene develops and over the period of 4-5 years it starts to flow into North America....in todays day and age it probably happens even quicker. Slingshot is right....almost all the major players in the game come from Europe. |
