Actually, every artist you listed makes music that is consistently mistaken for minimal by thoughtless chuds who don't know any better.

Way to keep it real, brah |
its a nickname i got from my friends years ago when i was mainly listening to trance. im not going to change my nickname just because i dont listen to trance anymore. first real minimal party i went to was in 2003 in miami. since then ive been attending more and more of them, to where now its mainly minimal for me. but then again, everyone plays it now. oscar g played mostly minimal at space this past sat for example. |

why such emphasis on genres? i know they are important but cant we just enjoy edm as a whole?? |
you know, people bitch about throwing certain music into genres but honestly, why not? it helps describe the style of music to people that don't know what it's all about. i think it's important to label genres of music, otherwise it's just "music" and people won't know what the hell you're talking about.
it's more of an elitist fad to hate on the specific name given to a genre of music than anything. |

yes i know its important, i think i stated that in my other post, yes it is i am totally in for labeling music and keeping it from being more confusing. What i am totally against is the typical.
"omg trance is so bad"
"wtf is minimal, this is so boring"
"electro is for queers"
"geez house sucks"
"only people with no taste in music listen to drum n bass"
u know? i hate it! there is good stuff in everything, no need to emphasise it so much a genre. in the end of the day:
genre= good for labeling and informing
genre= bad for peoples critiques on music. |

i think its embarassing to correct people on how they describe music, it makes you look like a snobby elitist that spends too much time arguing semantics on message boards. there are tracks that cross genres and dont fully fit into one or the other, theres nothing wrong with labeling a track under a genre that it most closely falls under. its just a way to make it easier to describe a track. anyway, what genre would you say those artists most closely fall under that mobreaks listed?
edit: you remind me of this guy -> http://www.break.com/index/thats_pretty_underground.html |

Tech-House or techno would certainly be more approriate in most cases, and before you go accusing me of being some musical "snob" or "eltist," maybe you should understand that terms have meaning beyond the "description du jour," and that the entire "minimal" movement in EDM is a horrible misnomer.
It's not being elitist, it's being correct. |
