Well, I'd like to start running/jogging. Any tips you guys can give me to help me get and stay motivated, how long I should be running for when I first start, etc...stuff like that.
Motivation is really the biggest thing...help me get in the zone! |

No no, god no treadmill. I'll definitely be doing it outside, in my neighborhood. Dunno if I can find a partner though. :/
My old high school is just down the street, I'd like to work up to being able to run laps on the track. |

Best invention ever. If you don't have a running partner this is perfect. Bonus is that you dont need the 'special' Nike shoes. Its very easy to make a pouch to tie in with your shoelaces. |

i run in the early morning, it makes me feel better both emotionally and physically for the day.
consistency is also a big factor, which is why i do it in the morning. If you miss one day, it just gives your head all the more reason to "do it tomorrow" |

| I run nine miles a day, three days a week (and have a hell of a blister to show for it). I don't really know what to tell you to keep you motivated other than to say that after the initial pain, you'll really start to enjoy it. It's kind of fun lengthening the run and trying to get quicker. |

you don't need a partner.
stretch good before, do a cool-down (walk a little), and stretch after.
go for distance, before you go for speed.
make sure you are hydrated ahead of time. |

Wicked, thanks. That's actually good advice, I'd always wondered how runners do it without having water bottles with them. |

Not the ipod. It is the sport kit:
The Sport Kit2 allows your Nike+ shoe to talk to your iPod nano. The sensor uses a sensitive accelerometer to measure your activity, then wirelessly transfers this data to the receiver on your iPod nano.
You can set goals and it will talk to you (man or woman voice. I prefer the woman). Set your pace, set your distance etc. Now if only she told me she was wet and waiting for me I would run like hell. |

| Running is bad for your knees, make sure you run on something soft like dirt or grass! Concrete and asphalt will kill your knees! |
