Thread mill?

Is that where you can run and post on TA at the same time?

Eh, also Jennypie, if you're anything like me, don't eat/drink dairy for two hours before running, or you'll get a hell of a stitch. That doesn't apply to everyone though.

Well, I'd like to start running/jogging. Any tips you guys can give me to help me get and stay motivated, how long I should be running for when I first start, etc...stuff like that.

Motivation is really the biggest thing...help me get in the zone!

Just make sure your shoe laces are properly tied.

If you see an agent you do what we do, run, you run your ass off.

I think others have said pretty much all the good tips but some of my tips.

-get good pair of insoles, esp. if you're going to run on pavement only. Proper running shoes are a must, but proper insoles will help to reduce the impact on the heels of your foot which leads to your spine.

-blow your nose before each run. Boogers don't help breathing.

-use proper breathing technique. in through your nose, out through your mouth. don't hyperventilate. slow down if you're having trouble breathing until you get back to proper breathing and then speed back up again.

-don't just run on flat surface. tackle the hills too. not only does it build up your muscles better (like walking up stairs) but it also breaks up the monotony of flat surface

-avoid running in midday or extreme humid days. sucks the energy right out of you and unless you're testing yourself, IMO serves no real purpose running in those weather

-also do wind sprints. sprint 100m, then slow down to fast walking pace for 100m, then repeat until how long distance you want to do wind sprints for. this will build up for cardio. I do this esp. at the last stretch of my run (and help you last longer in the sack) :p

-set a time that you've decided to run and stick to it. if you're going to do MWF 6am, stick to that as much as possible. routine makes everything easier

-hard techno is the best for running I find

-if you don't want to be sore, stretch properly before and after. I spent min 5 mins when possible at least 10, esp. if you're just started to run. or else you'll be real sore. special emphasis on leg muscles, esp. groin. hold your stretches at least 30 secs for proper stretch

-if you can run 5km in 25mins, you're decently fit. if you can run 5km in 20mins, you'll wear out your bf in the sack without breaking a sweat :p

Have fun! :)
