In America, air conditioners are not a luxury but a necessity. It's a fast paced country where you gotta be productive at all times. Hence, by having air conditioners people are able to do what they have to, without worrying about the heat which in summer would slow everything down. :)
i just noticed this post because mikey quoted it..

seriously, are you ing retarded?

I'll take hot. I hate being sweaty, and the heat makes you tired...but thats what pool parties and cold beer were invented for.

meh, i bet most of W Europe has more breaks per hour than the average american. but you are right about the AC bit. most people in hot climates are pretty industrious, they just wear less clothing to be more sexy|
Theresa
I would rather be too hot.

I think that people who choose too hot have likely experienced REALLY cold weather.... like - 40 degrees :(

Being cold for me feels painful. I hate hate hate hate being cold. As much as I don't like being sweaty, I would take it over shivering any day.

I'll ammend my response to be simply: LA

we have the best ing weather ever...

What makes you say this? I can't be sure, but I would bet otherwise. I work a 9 hour day and get a 1 hour break for lunch. That is pretty standard in the UK. What is it like where you are?

So you work 8 hours + the lunch break or 9 hours + the lunch break?

France has a 35 hour week and the most paid vacation of almost any industrialized nation.
DJ Mikey Mike
8 hours + a lunch break.
Theresa
7.5 hours plus a half hour lunch break here in Canada.

EDIT:

That might just be for where I work... :conf:

Same in the US. And in California you get two 15 min breaks after every 3 hours of work.

eight hours with 50 mins break split up into one 30 min lunch and two other breaks...

when i was in sweden nearly every hour there was a short break of some sort, and the average W European has much more vacation/holiday break time than an american, at least thats my take onnit. cant much be bothered to find the data|
