exactly. the cold air HURTS. hot air doesn't....its just uncomfortable
ps, why is it that people assumed humid conditions w/ excessive heat? just as one example, las vegas gets up to 100+, but the humidity is like 5% |

because the difference in humidity is far more noticeable & uncomfortable in warm weather than it is in cold. When it's freezing outside, you couldn't care less about the humidity--it's ing cold! So, basically, people just think that there's no such thing as humidity when it's cold.
Whereas, when it's hot, the slightest differences are very noticeable, and people suddenly become aware of the existence of humidity. |

right, but when you're asking, "would you rather be too hot or too cold" the "too hot" could really have two different takes on it.
example:
put your face next to a pot of boiling water.
now compare that by putting your face in the oven. totally different feelings, even tho they're both hot (ps, i realize that an oven is hotter than boiling water, but you sould --- at least normal people --- would understand the comparison)
edit.
my point is, that i'd rather be too hot in DRY heat than too hot in MOIST heat.

yes, I know what you mean, but you're just kinda assuming that you'll get some of each. The thing is, though, that 'some of each' in cold weather doesn't make a difference. |

no, but winds do.
you get say a temp of 0F, and that's cold. but now you add in winds of 30 mph. now it feels like -15. which is worse.
so now, you're cold because its below zero out - and then you add in winds and it makes it even worse.
regardles of how much you bundle up, you'll have some skin exposed to the elements. unless you dress like ralphie from "A Christmas Story". but then, you're just plain ed because you can't move.
edit
i hated ing midwestern winters where the high temps weren't even above 0 and then you added in those winds that made the wind chill in excess of -40. that noise, i'll pass. |

yeah, same happens most places in the south, 'cuz they don't have a billion plows & salt trucks, etc. to deal with it. If you have a few thousand of them, it takes all of 5 minutes to resolve that, but if you have 0, well, you're ed. go grab a shovel. |

Chicago was always good w/ plowing. Iowa on the other hand was ing gay about it. they waited until it STOPPED snowing, then they plowed. and they never salted! they put down sand. idiots.
ps, shreveport got i think .01" of snow this year. i saw like 9 snow flakes, and it was awesome. |

obviously there are differences across the board when real weather is involved, but i think most people fall into a cold or hot category. i cannot stand not being able to regulate my temp without the use of AC, so i like colder climates as you can always do something to heat yourself up.
in hot climates you have to resort to extreme measures methinks. mostly i dont like being greasy and sweaty, and i have good blood flow to the skin so i dont have chilly appendages like some people i know| |
