There are so many cliches and stereotypes in the movie too. Shia Lebouf is a good actor and he is funny at times, but the Taco Bell dog pissing on Optimus Prime's leg to which responds, "My bad"?

i believe it was optimus who crushed sams dads statue in the backyard and said" my bad"

...Noob.......Jk:p

this movie was ing amazing, best scene was with starscream fighting the jets....it was gay how megatron got killed....sickest transformer award goes to.....Probably he police car, forget the name...regardless, him or starscream....

there was cheese tho, i felt like i was at spiderman sometimes....but its cool how sams car got into the three way at the end...who thinks there will be a number 2?

megatron does come back as someone else in the story...
malek
there will be a 2 for sure... cause optimus kept a piece of that cube.

I doubt Megatron will be back... weren't there a billion different transformers in the series to choose from?

It's riddled with horrible character development on both the humans and the Transformers and there is just way too much comedy. Starscream has one line, Ironhide has maybe 5 lines, Megatron has about 3 or 4 lines. Optimus Prime talks a lot and sounded great but his dialogue was again, poor. The movie could have taken itself at least HALF seriously but I guess the studio was more interested in promoting new American military equipment or getting the tie ins on screen enough (did anybody understand why the Mountain Dew pop machine turned into a transformer?)

Some people just want a big dumb action movie with exploding all over the place with bad one liners that get tired after one viewing. That's fine. Others, like me, would prefer more crafty humour, character development and coherent action scenes (like in the old Stars Wars, Indiana Jones, first Matrix, etc). This new TF is definitely option A and yet another example of how current Hollywood movies largely fail to capture my imagination these days. I was kinda hoping they'd treat my favourite childhood property with more intelligence and seriousness but in the end, they can make more money with paper thing plotting and goofy comedy that appeals to the most people possible and especially to those who just want to be entertained with eye candy.

It's watchable but forgettable and will probably offend many of the hardcore Transformer nerds. Why did Optimus Prime have to have lips again?:D This movie probably would have broken my heart if it had come out in the late 80s.

I'm with you for the most part (lack of character building, not enough lines, too much focus on stupid human characters, too much silly humor,) it was also a HUGE GMC commercial....how many times did they have a commercial esque shot of bumble bee (the new camero)? especialy at the end when Sam and that chick were on the hood.

-The way they find megaton in the new movie was the way the find Skyfire in the cartoon. wack.

-I'm pretty sure all of the Transformers crash landed on earth in the cartoon...and they wanted to get the off earth as fast as possible to get back to cybertron. but they can't because they lack the resources.....the everlasting quest for energon and energon cubes begins. In the moive the decepticons want to take over the world with the "all spark". thats fine with me, but I think they went a little to far from the basics. the decepticons were made into modern day terrorists.

word on the streets is that all of the robots are anatomically correct. no dissapearing parts or magicly appearing limbs. but it wasn't shown off enough.
and because of this, they had to sacrafice Soundwaves character. one of my fav characters.
*edit* and also made megatron a fighter jet instead of the pistol

lots of other things that kinda made the story weak for me...I'm tired. I'll bitch some more later.

I'm still gonna see it again, even though I didn't like alot of the plot. ING AMAZING MOVIE!

and can someone explain to me where the "Sector 7" came from??? did I miss a few episodes as a kid?

20 odd years later and how many generations later, he's still here. you can't kill off megatron in the story. then there is no story. he'll be back probably as Galvatron

So what do the droid-actors who play the roles do after the movie's done?

malek
yeah for sure, but since we won't have 3498 transformers movies, i would believe the producers would want to keep it intresting by having different bots.

The action is good sure, but it's incredibly confusing and the transformer designs are too busy. There were many scenes where I could just not tell, for the life of me, what was going on. I do, however, fully expect it to win or be nominated for a SFX Oscar. The effects are great but the way Michael Bay chose to shoot them oftne produces a confusing scene. Does anybody ever just let the camera SIT STILL anymore?

There are so many cliches and stereotypes in the movie too. Shia Lebouf is a good actor and he is funny at times, but the Taco Bell dog pissing on Optimus Prime's leg to which responds, "My bad"? Bernie Mac's elderly mother character flipping him the bird? If you like that kind of comedy, it might be mildly amusing on first viewing but I don't think this movie will make a lasting impression on most people.

There is no doubt that this movie is lacking, in many areas, I agree. But it did deliver in many others, I was quite surprised to the see the attention to details, sounds, visuals, mannerisms to the show.
Shia LeBouf was the only seriously weak part of the film, his banter with the audience was nausiating, but thats Hollywood. That actor oozes nothing but that annoying, obvious Hollywood comedic intervention actor role. His lines were awful, I laughed 3 times, and never when others found the movie funny. WHere the film lacked in developing the bots, it gained in its creation and rendering of them, I was amazed - I had an almost "first time Jurassic Park" experiance...might be a stretch I realise.

Kudos for the film makers randomly adding in the "transforming sound" - forgot how cool a noise that is.

I am going to throw this out there, I think now we are just too old, and too smart to not pick up on all the dumbness of childhood cartoons...but I just went in there with a 12 year old mentality, and came out (with an action figure from my SUPER TRANSFORERS COMBO) pleased, very pleased.
