No. $2k a month is just for housing. My salary would be 1.5 to 2x what I make now, depending on bonus, and it would be tax free.

Ok this seems like a no-brainer to me.

Social life? You have years and years to live. You've already had a social life I assume.

Consider this like a monastic retreat, exile to the desert. Save all that tax free money, hoard it, and invest it. Learn a couple languages, find new hobbies and passions. An opportunity like this is an opportunity to live another life entirely. When you get back you will have a load of money, a sustainable way of life, new hobbies, and with all of that money and languages you can travel the farthest reaches of the world and experience the most it has to offer.

I wouldn't think twice about it personally.

Do you make music or deejay? If this was me I'd find a nice studio apt and then build a music studio. With no social life I would have a lot more money and time to really get into it.

And by area I mean Bahrain not Dubai.

dont expect too much scuba diving in the desert until its a man made show. Skydiving is there , outdoor activities exist but its too hot, so most of the places would be indoor in a air conditioned envoirment.

Most of the expats are Indian/Pakistani/English , and they have a few small festivals, but youll have a much more vibrant and friendly life than out west for sure.

my and my colleagues are competing like crazy to handle an upcoming company project in bahrain.

3x the pay and all expenses paid for 2 months plus whoever gets that job will prolly get to head an even bigger 6 month project in dubai.

fingers crossed.

my working 12 hour days for the past weeks will pay off.

Don't feel insulted by my comment but have you really budgeted this out?

Cost of living there is fairly high so what may be more cash in pocket may in the end mean less cash in hand due to everyday costs of living.

Now it does seem like you have a good opportunity but before you consider taking the decision a step further look into the nitty gritty details ;)

is dubai / bahrain considered civilized? e.g. how likely are you to be kidnapped or beheaded? I'd take that into consideration too.
